Winter at Schwang Manor in 10 Pictures

With wind chills below 0 degrees, it is safe to say that we are in the middle of a Chicago winter. This means that for several months, I'll be wearing a heavy jacket for my daily commute.
Rather than biking in daylight, I'll have to use my bike lights to keep me visible for cars and for Mr. B, the stalker.
Also, I'll have to wear my Sorel's to keep my toes warm in this bitter cold
while I commute to work in the snow and
when I take the pooches for their afternoon walk.
It also means that rather than being out on long weekend walks, the pooches will sit in the warm house and spend hours staring out into the bitter cold.
However, it also means that the pooches will spend more time snuggling.
It also means that we are that much closer to a relaxing spring break on the beaches of Tulum
and each day to our first wedding anniversary.

I am tired of winter already. We've had snow for a few days and I'm so over it. It looks pretty, but I hate how cold it is! Stay safe on those commutes to work!

Just keep thinking about warmer weather!

I'm thinking beaches too, but all this snow means that santa will be arriving with sleigh and reindeer at our house. My siblings are loving all the snow. We have a snowman in the yard already. The dogs arn't too keen they run outside for bathroom breaks and then right back in.

Brrr...I'm cold just thinking about temps. Winter is the only time I don't miss living in the Midwest. On the upside, there's all that great cuddle time :)

at the risk of labeling myself as a stalker also, is that a road bike with straight bars? would you recommend that for a city commute? i am shopping for a commuter bike for my 9-mile ride to work and was thinking a cross bike with drop bars...
also- love the hooded jacket on the little miss!

The photo of you riding your bike in the snow is awesome but makes me cold just looking at it. Of course, as a native to the Bay Area, I think anything below 50 is cold.

Love that wedding picture of the two of you!
Ugh... we are stopping in Chicago later this year and I dont think I have warm enough clothes for it! I have a pair of Sorels on my wish list... lets hope I get them for my day in Chicago!

Oh and when we first got Darwin we heard that blues aren't a common color, and we were one of the only ones in the Dane group we meet up with. But now we seem to see a lot of them! In just the Dane group there are probably 4-5 (not including Darwin's siblings) and at day care there are 3 blues that go to the same one.

That hood! Oh that hood gets me every time. Dogs should wear them more often.

Your wedding dress was beautiful. Normally I hate such things and have no idea what I am going to wear to my own wedding if we ever get around to planning it. Anyway, your gown is one of the very few I've truly liked.

As much as I am longing for snow I hope spring arrives soon!

We had some flurries yesterday and I was very excited!!
I have my winter coat ready and waiting.
My mom and dad have been to Mexico two times but not that place- I'll have to tell them to check it out-looks pretty nice.
And wow! Their one year anniversary is coming up too. Pretty neat!

It is -12 here now and it is so cold, we are fed up already. I do not know what we would be like ridding a bike. Great boots he needs two more.

Sorry, E. I think your boots are already spoken for, looks like they're a perfect fit for Mr. B. Stay safe biking in the dark!

And once again I have to say you guys make a great looking couple! I'll bet spring break can't come soon enough!

I love Chicago. Used to go every couple weeks when I lived in Madison. I've been entertaining the idea of taking a contract there in the future. Not so excited about winter though

Oh no. We haven't had snow yet. As much fun as it is when it's just falling, days 3+ really suck.

At least your boots will keep you warm!

Like someone once said - you have to know what's bad to appreciate what's good (like vacations to beaches and beautiful wedding shots).

We haven't had hardly a drop of snow yet so since I can't gaze at mine, I'll just gaze at pictures of yours until ours shows up (if it ever does).

By the way, I LUVS Mr. B's boots! He's Most Fashionable.

I think your wedding picture is just pawsitively sigh-worthy!

I can't even imagine what it is like to live in a place that cold with lots of snow on the ground. The closest I came is trekking in the Himalayas in winter! Actually, even there, not as much snow!

Tulum is beautiful! Have fun! I wish I had something like that to look forward to at the end of this winter. I am really hoping we don't get that foot of snow they're predicting for Saturday. Winter doesn't even officially start until December 22! Sheesh!

Oh, it seems so awful to be so cold! Here in Australia it's warm.

That is such a beautiful photo from your wedding day. Gorgeous couple.

I will try to think of E when I get into my cold car and want to complain about the seat chilling my rear end. Riding your bike in the winter in Chicago is hard core! How do you stay clean with the icky snow melt? I don't ride bikes, so maybe that is a stupid question, but if your car gets dirty, it's logical that you would get dirty.

Booker Man--The wedding dress was from the JCrew collection. It was inexpensive, and I also got to take advantage of the 30% off holiday sale they were having at the time. I really like it because it's a bit more casual and I think it can be shortened to wear again. The sash was also from JCrew.
