Pooches: On Dog Compliments and why Facebook Banned Me

Since we started our little blog, we are always humbled (and often blushing!) by all the nice comments and compliments our pooches receive.
At the same time, we know there are many even more amazing pooches and proud owners out there. Sometimes it does make me a bit sad, because I wish everyone had the chance to hear these types of compliments about their very own pooches.
The hardest for me is when I see the Facebook voting contests where there are some dogs who received hundreds of votes, and other dogs received only a few. I know when people put their photos up there, they have the same type of hope that people will see the special thing in their dog that they know. And it upsets me to see that not recognized.
I want everyone to get these types of compliments, so whenever I'm on a dog contest site I like to leave comments recognizing the nice attributes of each dog. And once you get started liking and commenting on the photos, you can't just like half of them, and you need to make sure everyone gets a nice comment.
Apparently, Facebook doesn't like this. And they banned me, because I left too many comments. (And now I feel like a stalker!)
We really do love seeing everyone's pooches, and we would love it if you could share photos of your pups on our Facebook page so everyone can see them! (Though we are still banned and even banned from liking and posting comments on our own page!).

Has Miss. M's stalking abilities rubbed off on you guys, lol! FB can be good but stink at the sametime. We love seeing your pups and knowing you guys are nice enough to comment on everyones posts not just a few select ones.

I can't believe they banned you! FB is ridiculous! Between trying to make us pay so fans can see our FB posts and banning you for trying to make everyone feel included (which I totally do also!), they are getting really annoying!

That's a crazy policy. I'm right there with you on wanting to give the 'under-dogs' a little comment love but have luckily somehow managed to stay under the limit so far. (Not sure how I didn't get scolded during the first few days of the I Am Lennox page.)

Thanks for your efforts.

I am the same way and had the same problem with FB - they punish you for being nice!

Omg you guys i thought i was the only one who felt this way......i dont like to do contests eighter wether is participating or voting because i cant look at all those hopeful faces and not feel sad they have ten votes as opposed to two thousand.....im glad to have company in my crazyness...

We occasionally participate in contests, even though we know we'll never win. It's just a way of getting Badger and Mushroom's adorable faces out there for people to "oooh" and "awww" over like we do when we see pictures of dogs on Facebook. I always appreciate getting Likes and comments, and I'm sure other people do too, so I hope Facebook unbans you soon!

What the poop???? That's the KERAZIEST thing I've ever heard! Sometimes FB is very much Most Unreasonable.

My momma's like you. It makes her sad when some doggies don't get any votes or comments at all. She says those contests are kind of all abouts pawpularity and not very fun for those of us who don't have kajillions of peoples to go vote for us. So we very much appreciate your good heart and wanting to do the right thing and we think FB is just a big pile of carrots. (I said carrots cuz I really don't like them.)

That's ridiculous!

Thanks for your efforts! It often angers me that these contests are "rigged" by the promotion of major bloggers. Your effort to try and make everyone feel appreciated is awesome boooo facebook!

I always try to vote for the doggies with the lowest vote totals (along with whomever I think should win the contest) since in my mind I don't want the doggies to feel unloved :-) I did win Nala's doggy day care costume contest last year and I can tell yea, it takes a lot of work! You have to actively recruit people and most didn't have a chance against my network - in addition to co-workers, friends and family I used the SociaBull/Pitties network, Anti-Cruelty Society staff/volunteer network and sent an "email from the president's daughter" to all my dad's employees (many who voted and one who also actively recruited as he is a huge pit bull fan and his sister is a vet tech). I should mention Nala won wearing Miss M's ladybug costume :-) This year I didn't enter and am just enjoying other's pictures (maybe I will do it again next year!)

WHAT?! I didn't know that FB could do such a thing!! How rude!!!

We always appreciate all of your FB comments and likes on our page/photos so much! Thank you for all of your kind words and we hope that FB gets it together soon and un-bans you!

Oh my gosh. Never heard of that happening! How dumb! You would think FB would encourage you to use its site more since you have a nice audience following you, your pooches and your blog! Good grief!

Wow- too friendly for Facebook? That's actually hilarious- hopefully they let you come back soon!

Sometimes FB is evil! I always vote for the dogs with the least votes.
And your blog rocks! We love it! And we've been to Big Apple Pittie events inspired by you!

Of all the things for Facebook to ban and they ban you for being nice people...really!?!?! Facebook needs to get a clue.

What?!?! That is so silly. What is FB doing.

I can't believe Facebook would ban you, you were just being nice. I'm a little shocked!

I had no idea there was a way to be banned that way. My goodness! Who knew? It is nice getting compliments, we always soak them up too, and we dole out twice as many to other pups! (Although more to the ones with big heads I think. Haha)

I am not able to comment anymore on Facebook either! Not even comments on my own stuff! I guess I was also being too friendly.

Thanks everyone! It actually happened to us once before where I was making a lot of contests on a contest site. They said "I was not using this page in the way it was intended" and I ignored it and I was banned for a few days. I guess since I was banned before, Facebook has even less tolerance for me because I made maybe 12 comments on the same site, and I didn't get a warning until I was already banned. I'm afraid now to write more than one comment on anything...or even more than one comment in an hour!

Sara @ LiteraryLima said...

Unreal! Can't believe you got banned! Totally get the need to be fair, though, every pup deserves a "like".

brooke said...

Compliments?! How could you! And multiple compliments! Even worse! What's wrong with you?! (that's sarcasm in case anyone thinks I'm being serious)
OI FB.

Good grief, these days it is nearly impossible to do something nice for others. Gah! We surely will send some pics your way though.
