Things to do in the City with Dogs: Division Street Farmers Market

One sure sign that summer has arrived in Chicago are our Farmer's Market. A few weeks ago we visited the 61st Street Farmers Market that is managed by fellow SociaBulls member, Danny. Though it is bit of a drive, it is well worth the trip with all the great produce and prepared foods. Lucky for us, we also have quite a few farmer's market that are only a short trip away, including the Division Street Farmers Market.
Mr. B loves putting on his backpack and helping the family carry our groceries.
Miss M cannot be bothered by the backpack, because she must be free to meet all the guests that happen upon her farmers market. She is always eager to strike a pose, while her dog does all of the grunt work.
Is there anything special that signals the arrival of summer in your city?

Summer in Erie is marked by the weekly "Block Parties" downtown, where they section off a block, set up a bandstand, and offer beer specials! The best part is that proceeds from each block party go to a different charity each week (including Therapy Dogs United and The ANNA Shelter!!) - raising thousands each summer.

Maifest is usually the start of summer for us. It's right down the street from us so we can bring Mugsy and let him make some friends......not to mention the big pretzels, brats, and German beer flowing.

We took Athena to her first farmer's market last weekend and she really enjoyed it! Like Mr. B, Athena wore her backpack to help lighten our load. Everyone was whispering about the dog wearing the backpack =)

We are lucky to live in a place where there are tons of farmer's markets in our area all weekend long during the summer. I'm hoping that Athena can come to the market with us at least every other weekend if not every weekend!

Love your fur babies!!! I found your blog just by clicking next blog. I'm pretty sure that's how, sorry! It makes me so very happy to read about pits in a good light for once!!! I have a huge fear of large breeds, bc I had my thumb bitten off a Golden who has stupid parents!!! Yes he's still running the streets of our neighborhood!!! A neighbor brought their new baby over to meet us and at that time our two fur babies who have since crossed the rainbow bridge. To much huge surprise, "Gracie" was a beautiful pit!! Sweetest dog EVER!!!! We baby sat her played with our girls, I even dressed her up much to her parents disgust!! Ha ha. I don't update my blog often, although I'm hopeful that's going to change very soon! At least I'm going to try. It makes me so happy to see this misunderstood sweeties in such a positive light!!! We have two fur girls a mixed breed our daughter found while still in HS and a "pocket beagle" (so they tell us, I sort of think she's just a tiny beagle!). This sweet lil girl was dropped off to surprise, OUR DAUGHTER!! She's a paramedic/dog picker upper, November 2011 I got a late night call from her telling me she "needed" to bring this pup to us until she had a few days off to spend time with her, as you know babies need lots of care!! She was told Moonie was 2.5 months old but we didn't think she was that old. A few weeks later where stationed at this out post again, she finds an envelop containing Moonie's AKC paperwork. Nice, considering this lil girl was only 20 days old when dropped off. If you have time to take a look at my blog, I'm pretty sure I blogged about our lil girl, Moon Beam AKA Moonie.
Sorry didn't mean to ramble!!

We'e at Lake Tahoe and everyone starts taking their dogs to the beach to swim. It's obvious that the local dogs are thrilled to finally be swimming again after the snowy long winter:)
