Things to Do in Chicago with Dogs: Miss M and Mr. B go to the Design Harvest Festival

Miss M is perplexed by the Square Dancing behind her
We know people sometimes feel sorry for city dwellers with our lack of green space, stretches of concrete. Though we've realized that we all just like to make the best of it. Sure we're lacking an abundance of nature, which just means the city will close down one of our major streets transforming it into our own 'Urban Orchard' complete with tartan-covered hay bales, pumpkins, square-dancing...and a high-end furniture design show.
It might not be a real pumpkin patch, but the pups didn't realize they weren't really at an orchard. Many pups accompanied their people to this super dog-friendly event where they were allowed access into the design tent and had plenty of hay bales and carpets for resting and 'glamping'.
Never having seen straw before, Miss M tries her own Huck Finn impersonation.
And she wasn't even embarrassed to be seen with her dad in public.
Maybe she just wants a few pumpkins for our own home?

That looks like so much fun! We love dog friendly events and are so jealous at the amount in Chicago.

And yes, I think Miss M is trying to tell you that it is time to get rid of the flowers and pumpkinize the apartment!

How do you find all of these fun festivals to attend? And how do you know that they will be pup friendly? I've only lived in Chicago for a year and we always struggle to find the best weekend activities to keep us busy.

@AmyGasparotto: We're lucky that Chicago is really pet-friendly and most of the outdoor events that aren't concerts and are in the neighborhoods (not downtown) will be dog friendly. We are always checking TImeOut Chicago and Metromix to know what's going on each weekend. We also have our favorites and if you follow our strand you can see everything we've done here: http://pittiesincity.blogspot.com/search/label/Chicago%20Dog%20Resources
Almost everything is annual, so check way back in the archives to see what's going on.

That looks like it must have been fun! I just got back in town last week and am recovering from a nasty cold, but I'm hoping to find some fun fall things to do, hopefully with Riley!
