In fact it is the first thing she does when we get out of the car or go into the yard or go for a walk. Pooing takes a bit longer but she does do that on command also. From the very beginning Darwin was extremely anxious outside. After several months he's less anxious (thanks to many treats outside!), but he continues to require more time and work going outside. I've always trained my dogs to go on some sort of magic word or phrase. Right now it's "do your business." I've had three dogs, and it's worked like a charm on all of them. Friends used to joke that I had the only dog that would poop on command as easily as doing "give me a paw" or "sit." It's funny though - Lucky (the male) often seems to be looking for somewhere discreet to poop. He prefers English ivy, for some reason, and a small bush, or shrub is ideal. Lady, she goes anywhere. Though while we're on the topic of poop - LOL - both she and the last German Shepherd I had took foreverrrr to get the deed done. Emma's my first girlie too and she runs out, pees and poops within 2 minutes, and then tries to drag me back home. SO much easier than Charlie who needs at least 15 minutes to get all his pee out - and lots of vertical objects on which to pee.

I hate making up stories about dog's pasts, but not wanting to pee in front of someone can be fallout from previous punishment. If she had a male owner who punished her for having accidents in the house, she could have decided it was safer to not pee in front of men. Again, I hate doing this and there are a zillion other things it can be. I've just seen it more often than I'd like to with puppies.Sightlesshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03538720022211433419noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7513996817497959054.post-27924076180451237872011-03-25T09:54:21.163-05:002011-03-25T09:54:21.163-05:00I personally think it must be dog specific.
