Thanksgiving on a Monday

Though A and I started this blog together, A does most of the writing and well, I write whenever A is overwhelmed by classwork from one of her many graduate degrees, or from prepping for her classroom, or from writing one of a number of grants to give her students real-world experience, or from preparing her students for her amazing community awareness project or from a whole of host of things she does to make a better learning experience for her students and our (mine and pooches) lives better. Though A likes to state my past career as an accomplishment, it is really her current life that is an amazing accomplishment and to top it off, she has brought new friends into our lives.
It was only months ago, that A and I were complaining about how we really don't have many friends that are dog owners and we would sit countless hours in the park with the pooches imagining how great our lives would be with a few dog owner friends. Now we are surrounded by such an incredible community of virtual and physical group of friends. I am awed by how A has introduced us to some old friends we just met. Last night we hung out with a few SociaBulls friends and we had a great time hanging out with several good (human) friends from our inaugural walk:
Maize
Torre
Jack
and with those who have made our group what it is today:
Izzy
Zoe
Lola and Franklin
but we missed those that make our Sunday walks extra special, you know who you are.
We are very thankful to our old blog friends that visited us in Chicago and those that welcomed us in their town and home and to our forever Project Rescue and New Leash on Life family members, Jack and Bella’s family and Leigh-Anne and George and SuperLevi’s family.
It was funny to me when on Monday night, Kim from A Yellow Brick Home and A were talking about Alex from Love and a Leash as an old mutual friend. A and I joke about how many of our closest friends, we have never met. She loves to tell me about your lives, such as fostering too many dogs so you had to move, the daily events of our oldest friends in Hollywood and countless many others. I apologize if I forgot anyone, but you all are truly dearest friends with A and me. We truly are thankful for the more than supportive virtual community and we hope someday we can meet you all.

...and we're thankful to you two for being the catalysts to form a real-life community out of the great virtual community you've started. It's great having a whole new group of friends in the city (and so many cute new dog friends!).

I find myself telling my hubs stories like: "You won't believe what Miss M did today" or "Did I tell you about Shiva's new trick?" or "Poor Lily isn't feeling well." And he just stares at me blankly... :) The online dog-loving community is an amazing bunch of folks! How wonderful that you could pull that together in real life, too. Next time we're visiting Chicago, I so want to take part in your SociaBulls group walk!

I know that I talk about you guys, Aleks, Anita, and all these other dog people I've met via blogs like we are besties and my husband just laughs. I seriously do think that blogs are like eHarmony...but for friends! :)

Aw, this post makes me so happy.

E, you are totally right about A's world saving ways! She blows me away with everything she does and how selfless she is.

Also, I think you and Scott are so cute together when we hang out.

Blogs are a funny little thing.

What a beautiful post! It is funny... I have been reading your blog for so long now and I talk about Mr B and Miss M's adventures like I know them haha. And I love your dog walking group... If we ever visit Chicago it would be so wonderful to be able to walk with you all!
And thank you for sharing your lives and adventures with us here. It really is a great thing to get to be a part of such an amazing community.

Amazing post! A is always such a great and thoughtful writer and one of the few who actually read/comment on our blog (many thanks!!).

We are truly jealous we're not a little closer to Chicago so we could join your SociaBulls walks, but this virtual work will have to do for now.

Both you and A's world-saving ways aren't lost on the virtual world! :)

Oh...what a great post to open in the morning!
Every day we are so astounded by all the amazing people we have met through our blog: from everyone rallying as a community to help SuperLevi (and Shy) and seeing all the walkers across the nation (and Germany!), to all the great comment conversations we have, and often really great emails where we love hearing about everyone's experiences, and how our virtual community has become a real-life community where we have had the chance to meet some of you in real-life and we have formed our amazing SociaBulls community with so many like-minded people who are so enthusiastic (not to mention getting up early to meet at 9am on Sunday mornings)! We have met such an amazing group of people who have become our real friends! But also thanks to E who is a bit more behind the scenes but does support all the crazy ideas I have and becomes the one who has to drive allover town when I decided to volunteer for Miss M's rescue group, and working with the dogs and cooking dinner whenever I do have to stay late at school to work with the students or come back from grad school super late at night.

Gosh, what a nice post. We do feel like we know you guys from the blog. My husband and I are always talking about how we would love to come see the pooches (and you guys of course). We have a family member that just moved to your town so who knows! Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us.

Me and my husband love listening your guys travels and walks. I love reading about all the cool tricks that Miss M and Mr B do. It has actually started to get me to teach my babies tricks too. Thank you so much.

Did you know you were one of the first bloggies we ever read? I hadn't lived here very long and my mom was doing some research on pit bull doggies just in case I was one and decided one day to bite her face off (BOL!). She was still kinda nervous about pitties cuz of all the bad things she had read in the news. But your bloggie made her feel SO much better and helped teach her how wrong she had been.

Anyways, we feel like you're our furends, too, and we're ever so happy you opened up your home and your lives so that peoples like my mom could get to know how pit bulls really are! We feel real lucky to "know" you!

Mayzie

I think it is so important to have other dog loving friends. Otherwise there is a huge part of your life that you have no one else to talk about with :)

You guys were the first to post on my blog way back when last year when I wrote my first post - you were my first real life online blog friends! I've fallen off the wagon a bit in the past months, but it's good to be back and it's great to read about your unique family. Thank you for what you do!

I know I appreciate the time you two put into your blog considering your very busy lives.
I too have never met you but feel that you are our friends, and I still don't think I would have considered adopting Wilbur if it hadn't been for your blog (yes it's your fault!).
And even though we've never met, if you ever get to Florida, you are most certainly welcome (if not expected!) to come aboard the Knotty Cat for a visit with us and our very naughty dog!

What a great post :) I feel the same way about so many of the people I've "met" through blogging. It's a great community to be a part of! I hope someday I'll make it out to Chicago for a sociabulls walk!
