Daily Walk: Crowded City Walks

This is one of the first times, ever, I can remember Chicago having a Spring. Usually we have cold, horrible weather until the end of May, then all of a sudden it's summer. We had amazing weather this weekend, and everyone in the city was out in full force. What better way to enjoy the weather and people watch than to take a long, leisurely walk with the pooches. The city was abloom with flowers sprouting out among the brick and concrete:
Miss M. enjoyed mugging for the camera:
Yet quickly grew miserable having to stop so often:The parks were absolutely packed with people:
And there were even huge lines for outdoor seating. Miss M. kept staring at people so they would pet her. Finally these drunk guys in huge sombreros gave her the attention she wanted. Then when they tried to put the huge sombrero on her...she realized she had enough and she stopped staring at people.Several of the stores are nice enough to leave water bowls outside for the pooches. After Miss M drank her fill, she refused to move out of the way for Mr. B. Here is Miss M. trying to guard the bowl, while Mr. B. sneaks underneath:
With all the excitement, the dogs collapsed on the pavement to take a nap. Just like twins:

  1. Glad you are all enjoying the weather! I introduced my husband to Miss M and Mr. B yesterday. He loves how much they look alike for not being the same breed! :)

  2. I loved the "sneaky drinking" picture. That shot of the pink blossom above the wall is lovely.

  3. What a very much GREAT weekend! That Miss M sure did looks sad in that second picture. I thinks she was trying her best stink face so you'd put away the flashy beast. But too bad for her, her stink face is just cute.

  9. I love seeing pictures of downtown Chicago. My aunt and uncle live in the suburbs of Chicago so we visit them often and sometimes hit the city for a play or something, but I never really get to see life in the city except through your blog. And I love Miss M's overattention problem - I think Noelle has the same issue!

  10. We are so glad you got to go out and enjoy the nice weather! My parents said they also enjoyed the nice Chicago weather and got some gardening done. I bet you were glad to have your outdoor patio!! No wait for outdoor seating there!

  11. So glad you got a little spring this time around. Without it I know the summer can be a bit of a drag. Also, love the sneaky drinking pic. If that had been Stella she would've taken that opportunity to pee. I'd love to know what that's about. Or maybe not.

  13. It was a fantastic weekend, wasn't it! I went for a walk down by the old water tower (before going into Water Tower Place with visiting family) and there are tulips there just about ready to bloom -- it will be real pretty once they do! We saw lots of dogs out and it made me sad not to have a dog of my own to walk. But I will continue looking when I'm ready and hopefully by next spring I will have a pup of my own. :) Lots of water bowls put out by merchants in my neighborhood, too, btw. :)

  14. Oh my gosh, I'm not sure how Levi would react if a stranger tried to put a sombrero on him. Miss M. must be friendly indeed! Unfortunately for us, the weather is now "too hot" for Levi to enjoy walks. We walk at a glacial pace. No really-25 minutes just to circle the block this morning.

  15. Go Mr. B...I wish Bilbo would just do stuff like that to Dory when she gets all "Miss Attitude" about something.

  21. Poor Miss M, I love the boo-boo face. And if Mr B thinks it's ok to 'share' Miss M's crate then he better be prepared to share a public water bowl! What a stinker.
