SociaBulls: We are Pit Bull Owners and Allies. We are the Majority.

On our last walk, one of our Chicago SociaBulls friends was joking about how everyone has this vivid, distorted impression of the hidden underworld of pit bull owners.
In reality, they will probably be surprised to find out....it's just us.
The type of people who are motivated to wake up early on cold weekends, often driving long distances, just to take a walk with like-minded owners:
The type of people who dress our pups in coats, hoodies, snoods, and sweaters just so they'll be comfortable in the cold weather:
The type of people who may not own a pit bull-type dog, but realize they're all just dogs walking together:
The type of people who are toy inventors, lawyers, military veterans, teachers, media geeks, chefs, investors, scientists, social workers, carpenters, PhD's, voters, computer nerds, new moms, recovery counselors, vegetarians, and Chicagoans...just to name a few:
Because we are Chicago SociaBulls. We are pit bull owners and allies. We are the MAJORITY.
If you haven't already, check out this great campaign from Animal Farm Foundation which inspired us and showcases all the amazing, and regular, pit bull owners across the nation. And a great write-up from one of our friends here.

So, who else is part of this 'hidden underworld'?
We love seeing how diverse pit bull owners and allies are, how would you fill in the blank?  And will you be submitting to the project?

Also:
Another 'Where's Waldo-ish" photo from our walks here . Can you spot Miss M and Mr. B?

I love that Animal Farm campaign and keep considering participating, but I feel hard pressed for just one word to fill in. I'm one of those seamy underworld pit bull type lovers who is a manager in a bank, a mother, grand mother, volunteer, ninja. (Just kidding about one of those.)
Yep, your typical Pit Bull person!

We submitted our "family pic" to the Animal Farm Foundation - I am an educator and my partner is an Veteran. I am so excited to see how many "regular" people love pitties so much! We're making progress and changing minds!

We pretty much can't stop talking about how wonderful pit bulls are! We have only come across a little negativity and a whole lot of support so I'm thankful for that. We're going to turn in our "majority" shot soon hopefully. :0)

My husband and I own 5 bully breeds. Our SWAT team consists of 3 ABs, 1 Pitbull, and 1 German Shepherd-Pitbull Mix- though she's more like a Chewbaca. We are a couple who both are quite and shy, we are not social butterfiles, but we love all animals and have a special affinity for Pitbulls. ~Liliana from, lilisnotes.com

We are allies, Bender probably doesn't have any American Pit Bull Terrier in his makeup but he certainly has Mastiff and other types of boofa in his genetic makeup. Barbie of course is a greyhound. Recent proposed changes to the Dog Act here has illuminated something for me though, that people who own Greyhounds and people who own Bully breeds are often allies without realising it, because they are both subject to BSL. Unfortunately the legislation has tied up the 'green collar' program which takes the legal requirement to muzzle greyhounds away if they pass a test, with some pretty nasty amendments about 'restricted' breeds and any dog who looks like it might be partially derived of a 'restricted breed'.

Also I have to say my fav pic is the Dobermann - don't see too many Dobies around here anymore :(

In my case since i live in what people call " the hood" i like to definitely break stereotype and take this opportunity to teach and raise awareness in my own hood about pitbulls. I see younger kids are more inclined to listen because im one of them. Never thought of that until now....hmmm...

I'm not interested in managing my own group but there's been talk of a Phoenix area hiking group getting started for pitties and I'm sure other pups. I hope it happens! I love the message you help spread!

I love your sociabulls pics! CA pit bull rescue just started organizing walks in my area! I always think anyone who doesn't like pit bulls hasn't gotten the chance to get to know 1 or 2 or 10:)
