Pooches: Do You Take Smooches from Pooches?

I remember when a friend once told me that Miss M wasn't the dog for me because I would dodge her every time she tried to lick me on the face. Sure I was treating her like the unwanted boyfriend, but didn't most people avoid 'fresh advances' from dogs?
Apparently not as I was just looking at these photos where the first thing everyone is doing when they meet our pooches is offering up their faces for some sloppy kisses:
Plus, you could make a drinking game out of the times people kiss our pooches in the videos here and here (especially the finale!).
Even living with our little "Kissing Bandit's", I still find their advances a bit much.

What about everyone else: do you accept smooches from your pooches? Or are you a dodger like me?

My momma and daddy both luvs our smooches (within "reason"...whatever that means). But my Auntie K doesn't like doggie kisses - even though she luvs doggies. That's okay. I understand. (But I still try to sneak one in every so often. Heehee!)

It depends on my mood, really. Or depending on what I have "caught" them doing with those mouths of theirs!!

I love getting smooches. All kinds from all dogs. But I am glad that our Bella's kisses are very dainty and delicate. Maybe if she was a St. Bernard, I'd feel differently. :)

Nola is a pro at giving kisses (hence the name of the blog about her). But, she doesn't stop at kissing, she loves to LICK our faces and the Mr.'s head (he shaves it). Most people think it's gross, but we love it!

I loooooooove pibble kisses. My girl is pretty delicate- I usually have to coerce her by loads of kisses from me first. Then, there's no stopping her! That's fine with me :)

I've read that kissing dogs isn't the healthiest option, so that gives me pause. But I actually love getting doggy kisses, and Mushroom especially loves giving them, so I consider it worth the risk!

Also, I love that last picture of the "tough guy" with the muscles and tattoos getting a kiss from a dressed-up Miss M.

I'm usually okay with it. My pooch is trained to kiss on request. It was part of our puppy mouthing training. Instead of mouthing, we got him to lick and said "kisses" as the command. And now he will do it to anyone. I'm okay with it because he's my dog, and he's not a drool machine. But I try to get him to respect my friends who are less comfortable with it, using a firm "off" command. He's pretty good about it. In terms of health reasons, I've read that dogs have less bacteria in their mouths than humans, so that makes me feel better.

I like a quick kiss or 2... I don't like getting a bath (and Chocko, we are discovering, is a bath-giver!)

My Momma gives me treats when I give her kisses and she always kisses me good bye when she leaves for work.

As you and E know, Zoe will give you a bath if you let her. I've never met a dog that licks so much. I like kisses, but in a limited amount!

I love smooches. Both Monkey and Petey know the 'kisses' command. Strange how in two years I went from thinking it was totally gross to happily doling out (and receiving) squishy muzz kisses.

Kisses are the best part of my job! None of my dogs are too enthusiastic about kisses so I get my kisses quota from the dogs who visit the shop. I wouldn't have it any other way!

I do accept smooches from pooches!

In fact, Elka has a "gimme a kiss" cue (for a lick on the cheek).

On the rueful end of things, though, we also sometimes joke that Elka "might be German, but she tongues like a French girl." So there's that.

We both transformed from dodgers to smoochers. I thought it was gross at first, but after spending time doing things like picking up sloppy poops and being unfazed by finding dog hair in your dinner, the bar for gross gets lowered. Now I love dog smooches!

I am not a fan of too many dog smooches. Rufus gives them very sparingly, so it's almost an honor when he goes in for one - he's super awkward and gentle about it, too! So funny. It's like he doesn't know why he's doing it, buuut....he may as well go thru with it now that he's started.

Tucker & Phoebe are both enthusiastic kissers ... and honestly there are times I find it a bit much. Phoebe especially because she is not just an enthusiastic kisser but an indiscriminate one as well. She will kiss arms, legs, ears, whatever. So personally I find Tucker's desire to kiss me right on the lips a bit easier to take because I can just ask him to lie down and it stops. Phoebe is like the ninja kisser!

I love kisses! Norman I will never ever turn down a kiss from. Kaya I have to tell her to stop when it's enough or else it will never end!

Love their kisses! They're the best :)

I am not a fan of kisses, but Pauley's Boy loves them :)

Yes and no... I used to hate dog kisses, I know where their tongue was before. Now I occasionally let ou dogs lick my cheek. But I'm stil suspicious that they're after my face cream - Almond & Aloe Moisturizer Lotion.

I actually demand smooches from poor Wilbur all day long, so I guess this might be why he's become known as the 'kissing bandit' at the dog park. He leaps up onto picnic tables, swipes everyone in his path with his big pitty tongue and then takes off before they know what hit them. This is one of the reasons why I take him to the park at the same time every day; these people know him and therefor don't fear him!

I love pup kisses! Well, I might qualify that for the chocolate lab of the Texas part of my family - he is a hot mess usually! But for the most part, yeah, I like the kisses and I've learned to keep my mouth closed when they come in to plant one!

I started out being a dodger but I have converted. Now my dogs literally lick my teeth (now that part isn't my idea.) We welcome and adore their kisses but sometimes they get into an obsessive licking trance where they lick any exposes skin obsessively, (a lot of times armpits,) and it starts out by saying, "Ohh nice, thanks for the kisses, are you cleaning me? Ohhh thank you... okay stop... enough kisses! No more kisses." Our dogs are lick crazy.

Levi rarely gives kisses and I am A-OK with that. Neptune loves to give kisses and since he is an avid butthole-licker, I try to reject his advances. And when he kisses the baby, well, it's just gross.
