Please Read All: Some Devastating News From Friends...

UPDATE: The family has been having difficulty finding rental housing for their 2 remaining pitbulls and 2 young children, and the with the drawn out rebuilding process the bank is now looking to foreclose on their unbuilt home.
Read more about the current situation and if you can spare even a little bit:
UPDATED CHIPIN HERE: http://pibblehouse.chipin.com/save-the-pibble-house
Before we started our blog, we didn't really know any other pitbull owners. Slowly through our blog we began meeting other pitbulls with blogs. Through our blogs, comments, and off-line emails we began to know one another and consider them true friends.
One of our very first friends were the Houston Pittie Pack: a gorgeous group all literally rescued and brought together from precarious situations. Their mom truly has the biggest heart. While we knew them as a pack of 4, they slowly grew to 7, including some wee ones, as their mom opened her heart to these dogs in need despite a layoff, a baby on the way, and needing to work longer hours to make it all work. There have never been dogs more loved.
We recently heard the devastating news that last night there was a fire that destroyed their house. We heard from Mayzie: "She tried desperately to get all the dogs out of the house but they were hiding under beds and in closets. She was only able to save Brinks and Bella. The rest – Guero, Coco Chanel, Tiger, Lucky and Shelby – are all now at the Bridge. Thankfully, all the humans were able to get out of the house safely."
We are beyond saddened as we felt we really knew these pooches, probably even more intimately than we know the dogs we see on our block every day.

Lost in the fire was Coco "Queen of the Universe" who reminded us so much of Miss M with her diva ways. She came to them from a bad situation covered in ant bites, and she has lived with them at least 8 years:
Little Lucky, a new addition to the pack, who was a Daddy's girl and so heartbroken and shut down they brought her into the family and considered themselves extra lucky:
Tiger, another wee one, who they found outside their home during a cold storm. He knew the right home to pick:
Shelby, an abused, pregnant pitbull who had never known love and was left for dead in a parking lot. They gladly welcomed her into their home, nursing her back to health with love and the help of the blog community.
And Guero, Sandra's heart, and the pup that started it all. You can learn so much about their family, and their love for their dogs from this post here.
We were happy to know that all the humans, including Grandma and the baby, are safe. And Brinksey and Bella were saved:
Knowing how much they truly cared about each pup, we cannot imagine the loss they must be feeling, on top of losing their home and being displaced.
We know there isn't much we can do to help them with the loss of their precious pooches, but a group has started a Chipin page to help them get back on their feet and anticipate any immediate needs, lost wages, insurance premiums and other things that might come up.
The link is here:http://pittiepackfirerecoveryfund.chipin.com/sandras-fire-recovery
We also have a mailing address if people would prefer to send checks or condolences through the mail. Email us if you would like that address.

They are truly among the most caring and genuine people we have ever met. We loved receiving Valentine's Day and Holiday cards with photos of the pack, and we were always amazed how they truly cared for each pup, even making time after they had their own human child.

You can read more about them on their KissaBulls blog here: http://kissa-bull.blogspot.com/

What a wonderful tribute.

It has been a sad day. But it has been truly amazing how the blogging community has come together to support them.

Oh my gosh. That is absolutely devastating. I follow their blog and love looking at the pictures of their dogs. It is obvious how special each and every dog was to their mom. My heart is breaking for her. I don't know how you begin to heal from something like that, but I hope she finds comfort in Brinksey and Bella and they in her.

I first met them when they rescued Shelby. I cannot imagine how to deal with a devastating loss like this. We have posted the chip in as well, and hope that they will be able to continue to love dogs like they've never been loved before.

I only just now read this and I can't stop crying. I've followed the Kissa Bull blog forever and I can't believe those wonderful dogs are dead. For some reason Shelby's death is torturing me the most. That poor poor dog already went through so much and I can't believe she's gone. I feel so bad for the family and I'm glad they were able to get out. Hopefully the money that's collected will help them with all the unexpected expenses that arise from this type of tragedy.

P.S.: I am holding a comment-a-thon to raise money for Sandra and family. It goes until tomorrow at midnight if you would like to stop by.

I've visited Sandra's blog to express my condolences and support, but wanted to come back here today and express my sympathy to you as well. You must feel devastated, as long as you have been friends with this family. Sending love and hugs.

When I heard, I was at work and the tears flowed and flowed. They're flowing again with your beautiful tribute. What a horrible loss for Sandra and her family who work tirelessly to rescue animals in need. It's so uplifting to see how much support has come from this community. I'm sure it's lending some comfort to Sandra and her family.

When we first saw the news on Facebook Friday morning, we were totally devastated. We are also a large family of rescues, and the thought of losing so many (and a house) all at the same time is incomprehensible.

Our heart still hurts from this news. We are hoping Sandra will be able to take in more pups and continue the legacy she started...

Could you send me her mailing address? My email is morgan720@yahoo.com. This is so heartbreaking but the good news is that they are in Heaven and what a true champion she was for her dogs.

I just want to say again what a beautiful tribute this was to Sandra and those precious lives lost. Thank you for taking the time to talk about each one of them individually and what made them so special to Sandra and to Blogville. I still can't believe they're gone. Thanks also for telling everyone about the Chip In. As of now, $5,925.50 has been raised. Truly remarkable outpouring of love for this dear family.

OMG this is horrific, and my deepest sympathy go out to this family. I also am a pit rescuer, I have 5 and 3 of mine are brindle and whites, just like some of theirs...oh god, I am just in tears for them right now. This is my biggest fear, fire. I want to help them in some way. I cant do too much as I run a rescue and we are in need of help, but I would like to send what I can- even a doggy bag for the 2 babbies who are still with them. I have beautiful collars leashes and treats, and some other stuff too. Is there an address on where to send things? I am sure I will keep looking on thread.
I will keep this family in my thoughts and prayers.. From Jennifer Brooks- Second Chance Rescue NYC

This is truly a horrific tragedy but once again Blogville has pulled together as one to help. We're so proud to be part of that community.

We have participated in the ChipIn and will see what else we can do to help.

Such a tragedy. I went over and contributed. It was a good idea to use PayPal so people like me all around the world could help a bit.

(I thought I'd already commented here but I can't see my comment, so I'm posting it again.)
