Staycation with Dogs: Dome Walking Tour

When we went on a trip this summer, we realized that the best part of traveling was discovering new things we enjoy, then bringing them back to our everyday life...with our pooches. One of the main things we did  was walk around gawking at the amazing architectural designs and domed Cathedrals.
Then we realized, this is we actually live in a neighborhood filled with Chicago landmark domed cathedrals. In Ukrainian Village there are several beautiful European-style cathedrals nestled amongst the homes in a few block area. With the multi onion domes, gold-leafing and enormous mosiacs, it's almost like we stumbled into a far away land:
The cathedrals encompass a few-block area with beautiful tree-lined streets, because since we have to take the walks anyway, we might as well make them interesting:

I do the same thing. There's a really beautiful stone church just around the corner from our home with a lovely walled garden behind, and I often walk that way just for the views. Plus Milo loves running up and down stairs, so we do the church stairs as a fun obstacle course. He's like my own four-legged Rocky Balboa.

There are so many different interesting areas in Chicago! It's great that you guys are able to check it all out with the pups.

I love those cathedrals! Every time I've driven past them while visiting, I always tell myself that I'll stop and check them out. I never have though. Maybe next time?

Gorgeous pictures. Also I love that Mr. B is confident enough to wear purple, and boy does he wear it well!

that looks very pretty!!! we need to take a leaf out of your book and go walking in some different places - though we are going to stick to the usual route while we get Barbie used to her booties :)

Pretty cool to act like a tourist in your own home town. We don't do it nearly enough here in DC--so there's still plenty to discover! I love bringing the dogs to monuments.
