Just as I was excited to be getting back into our family walk routine, a huge Arctic blast blew into Chicago dropping windchills to blustery subzero temperatures. While everything seemed miserable and gray, we had a huge surge back up to 20 degrees; this felt absolutely tropical in comparison! Determined not to let the winters hold us back, we bundled up the pooches and headed out on a longer neighborhood walk. And despite all the grays of winter, there were many brighter hues. Miss M wore her bright pink coat in defiance of the gray weather:
I did notice that if I really looked, things were a bit more colorful and spring-like than I originally thought. I had never noticed this blue garage before:
Maybe if I just try to notice these types of things more, the winter won't seem as harsh. We're all starting to have cabin fever and just hoping the groundhog makes the right choice about spring. What else is everyone doing to get through the winter?

Glad it got warm enough to venture out a little bit! They look so cute and warm in their coats! We don't venture out too much; we'd rather stay warm and snuggly on the couches!

The pooches do like very colorful in their coats! It is ggod that you can get out and enjoy the beauty of the season!
Love the pink coat! Some of us would dig being in the snow but not sure about 20 degree (and below) weather! Can you have snow AND 80 degree weather - now THAT would be FUN!

I love Ms. M's hood. I'm surprised she'll sit with it being that cold out! Our guys do a sort of "hover over the cold ground and hope they take this is a sit" thing.

Brrrr! It was negative 19 when I woke up this morning... 20 degrees would be amaing! I like to stay inside and snuggle... not a huge fan of the freezing cold temps! But I'm also signed up for classes to take my canine good citizens, so that gets me out and about so I'm not cooped up all day!

Great idea! I will try to keep an eye out for spring colours on my evening walk. I don't know if anything will be as bright as that wall in your photograph, but I will look. Perhaps it will keep me from freezing anyway. :-)

Well, we really haven't had much of a winter here so we're not really doing anything much different. We don't get to stay out in the yard as late as we did but that's about it.

Your positive thinking impresses me - I think I'd have a hard time finding the upside of a cold Chicago winter (of course, this is why I live in a ski town in the mountains....). However, I think those are GREAT pictures - and wonderful color! (But those temps. Ugh!)

I hear you about things being relative-the sun came out Saturday and it was like heaven compared to the dreary cold weather! But, I am loving the snow, I have to admit. The pooches look so cute in their coats! Ms. M. is such a diva in her pink coat!
We've been trying to get out when we can, but the weather and my bronchitis haven't been cooperating lately! Hubby's taking another obedience class with Morgan and I think it's good for both of them. Getting out to visit the nursing homes is a nice doldrum breaker, too, and the people we visit usually appreciate it a lot.
I have vowed to stay inside until spring! I sure do like your colorful coats!
