Chicagoing: Pits and Bikes in 10 Pictures

Of all the neighborhoods in Chicago, this one is suited best for us. Now that the cold weather is approaching the number of bikers all around Chicago decrease significantly, except around us. It seems like the number stays steady or even increases in the cold weather, which is amazing, since there are so many bikers in our area to begin with.
What is also nice, is that our neighborhood has a lot more adopted dogs and many of them are pit bulls or they look like types of bullys.
We love how our neighborhood seems so progressive with a lot of bikers and adopted dog owners.

Look at all those happy looking dogs! I'm impressed that so many people bike in the cold there. Doesn't Chicago have notoriously cold winters? I guess if you bundle up enough it works!

Looks like you have alot of happy dog neighbors! Have you ever tried riding your bike with your pups hooked to a Walky Dog?

everyone looks so happy! Thats the thing about living in the burbs - you dont get to see many happy dogs - they are all behind fences with pent up energy and agression.

I'm also impressed you manage to ride when it gets cold there! My husband would kill to be able to ride his bike to work, but he just works too far away and has to go over a bridge with no bike lanes:( And I don't know how to ride a bike!

Love the pictures of the smiling pitties!

How do the dogs react to the bikes? I love that you live in such a proactive neighborhood :)

Such cute pups! Darwin just had a fun play session at the park last night with a fawn pit mix.
I have bad knees and love the idea of biking, but we live in a very hilly neighborhood and I don't think I'd be able to make it up any of them! And I don't think I'd be able to bike with Darwin! I think it would freak her out!

Love all those bikes - looks like a great neighborhood to live in! The white dog with the huge grin is adorable! My husband and I always joke that we only know names of dogs on our street - we don't know the person's name, just that they are "Buddy's owner", etc :)

What a cool neighborhood you live in! I'd just be happy if I didn't live next door to The Village Idiots!

I think you live in a most wonderful neighborhood! I'm not sure how much I would like living in a big ol' city but I bet I'd like your little corner of it just fine!

A lot of people ride their bikes all year long here in Pittsburgh, but I am a total fair weather biker! I love all the smiling pitties, and that red one looks so much like Wilbur!

Wonderin if y'all have spiked tires for when it ices up there? Mom says she has a hard enough time goin over RR tracks much less an entire slippery street.

She's been contemplatin us tryin to do the bike/walk thing. I keep tellin her, that probably wouldn't be a very good idea. All she says in reply is that she needs to borrow Remington's football outfit ;)

Wonderful that there are so many adopting humans in Chicago :) Especially when they adopt dogs with a wee bit of me, Miss M and Mr. B in them ;)

Waggin at ya,
Roo
