Despite some morning sprinkles, and navigating through several half-marathon street closures, we met with a great group of dogs and owners excited to share a morning walk. What better way to spend a Sunday morning than strolling along the Chicago lakefront path with skyline views, enjoying great company and amazing dogs?
Making his big Chicago debut was adoptable dog Mr. Pink (above) newly sprung from the city shelter where he narrowly missed meeting his 'date on the calendar'. Beyond being absolutely gorgeous (my camera cannot even begin to capture the true essence that is Mr. Pink) he was excited to work on his leash manners and socialization as he begins his search for his future family.
Our pack also included newly adopted sweet, sweet Daisy.

Social-butterfly Daria who was so excited to attend and did a great job of focusing her energy on the rhythm of the walk.

Adorable Petey who did an amazing job staying focused. I'm not sure whether it was his intense concentration or looks that kept reminding me of Miss M:
And demure Nabi (little sister to smiley Willie) who despite being a bit shy, held her own in the group. Even though they're adopted, I think they share a smile.
Even though the group had varying levels of socialization and excitement, the walk was successful because we respected boundaries and space making it a positive and comfortable walk for everyone. And the pooches had the socialization benefits of walking in a pack without ever having to physically meet on leash.
We have been excited about the response to the walking club, and we're looking forward to future walks.

Maize and I are SO SAD we missed the walk yesterday. Ummm Mr. Pink is far cute to cute...I can't put in to words his cuteness. It looks like you all had a fantastic time. We can't wait to rejoin the group in a couple of weeks!

what kind of choke collars does your dogs use, I'm thinking about getting my Roxy one. She still doesn't walk good on a leash for me.
I'm so glad your dog walks have been such a success! All of the dogs are so adorable and it looks like it's a ton of for them and the people.
What a great experience, especially with so many newly adopted/foster dogs! I love seeing those big muscle dogs on easy walk harnesses- I never leave home without mine!

How wonderful that so many pups were able to go! We love that many of them are adopted:) They are all adorable, but we particularly enjoyed Daisy's pic; she looks like a model!
That is a GEORGOUS group of dogs. It would have not served me well to have been there as I would have disrupted the walk as I stopped each dog to love on it! They are truly all spectacular looking doggies!

Sometimes people think that it is only important to walk young and energetic dogs. While it helps to control the energy level of younger dogs, it is also very beneficial to older dogs as well. With a regular walk, older dogs may not be motivated to exercise in the yard. A regular walk keeps an older dog healthy for a longer time period.
