While we live less than 2 miles from the center of downtown Chicago, we don't make it there often with the pooches.
Following the quote "Being dressed up is a beautiful form of politeness", we made sure to show our respect to the city by dressing it up a notch.
For Miss M this meant stepping out with her pink puffy coat and even bigger fur hat.
Walking in front of the Burberry store, many people even asked if the pups were wearing real Burberry scarfs from the store.
Many of the downtown highrises have dog weight restrictions, so you don't usually see bigger dogs walking around downtown.
It's even rarer to see pit bull-type dogs downtown.
Our pooches had the chance to make like tourists:
While they were able to meet many tourists.
It became quite the spectacle seeing large dogs in fur hats strutting around downtown.
Especially for people who had never met pit bull-type dogs before, and an honorary 'Shittie' (Shitzu + Pittie).
What surprising places have you taken your pup?

I imagine they caused quite the spectacle downtown! Think about how many tourists now have photos of Ms. M & Mr. B on their camera phones now! :)

I sort of envision people running towards them, as if they were Justin Beiber (who for the record I would not run towards but I would run towards your dogs (in a calm, only somewhat alarming manner))!
Their different personalities dressed up are so obvious in the photos. Mr. B is clearly humoring you while Miss M has RuPaul's "Supermodel" playing on a loop in her head.
I take Eleanor to fancy stores in the West Village all the time. We once ran into Liv Tyler, who thought she was super adorable. R+E
With foster Rerun, I've been trying to get him exposure at unexpected places, especially since he is shockingly well behaved indoors. So we hit up the bigger stores that allow dogs: Home Depot, REI, Best Buy, Blick. We've even gone into West Elm together! We always get a lot of smiles and double takes.
I once took Petey to the William Secord Gallery which sells dog paintings. It was the weekend of the Westminster Dog show and they asked me if he was a show dog! Pretty good for a rescue from the South Bronx!
Miss M and Mr. B look fantastic!
You guys make the city look hip!

They wear those hats well! I think dressing up pitties in silly hats is an underutilized secret weapon in our battle against breed stereotypes:)
My boyfriend and I took our pittie Prince on a month-long cross country roadtrip and we found lots of dog friendly places along the way. The best of all was the International UFO Museum and Research Center in Roswell New Mexico. Prince did not know what to make of the life-size model of a flying saucer and aliens!
That's GREAT! Once Zoe and I walked from the apartment to Michigan Avenue (yeah, that was kind of crazy, I know) and she got SO much attention on the Mag Mile. It was great because it was positive... people just seemed excited to see a big dog and wanted to pet her! We've also had her in the loop before, and the police officers loved her! :)
I love them in their dress up gear! I like taking Norman into fancy clothing stores(Kaya gets too bored and whiny). The employees always make a big fuss over him and get little white hairs all over their fancy black outfits:/
Wow! They are so cute and adorable! Good thing that you have found dog friendly holiday cottages that would accommodate your pets during your holiday stay.
My two mutts, Kaysea (beagle mix) and Shayla (pit mix) have driven across country more times then most people. Shayla has even traveled on a plane! They are both so friendly & social that could go just about anywhere & fit in.
Probably the cutest dogs in hats ever! :D
Love those hats
Stop on the by for a visit
