For the second year we participated in the Red Door Animal Shelter Walk for the Animals. This is an annual fundraiser where we go on a "big dog parade" in northern Chicago neighborhood. We get T-shirts, the dogs get bandannas, treats, and toys, and we all end up in the park to eat breakfast. This shelter is a little different--they have a huge focus on rabbits. Knowing how much Mr. B loves stuffed animals, we weren't sure how he'd react to the huge rabbit mascot walking around. He was too distracted by the other dogs to even notice.
They were predicting huge thunderstorms, so the pooches wore their raincoats. Luckily, it was a rain free day. Mr. B made some friends. They were completely exhausted after the 2.5K walk.
I really enjoy this walk because it's much smaller then the Paws, and Bark in the Park events. We get to walk through the West Rogers park neighborhood with all the unique and beautiful bungalows. We end up in Indian Boundary Park--this amazing park that even has a small "barnyard" zoo area. Here's Mr. B. checking out the ducks
