Pooches: Unleashed Dog Daycare

Despite the fact that Chicago has a number of dog parks, we only take the pooches to these parks either very early on weekend mornings or during the middle of the day in the summer. Before we adopted Mr. B, I would spend countless hours reading blogs and other sources about responsible pit bull ownership and a number of websites such as Bad Rap and Pit Bull Rescue Central all advise against taking dogs of any breed, especially pit bulls to a dog park.
(Speaking of Pit Bull Rescue Central, they have this banner picture under breed info of a dog that looks exactly like Mr. B)Because of the information on these websites, we vowed to never take our pooches to a dog park unless it was completely empty, which is quite difficult in a city as busy as Chicago. However, we are lucky enough to have a daycare and boarding place that specializes on pit bulls and other bully breeds, Unleashed. We have been going to Unleashed ever since we adopted Mr. B and it is the only place we completely trust with our pooches. They have an enormous play space with nice soft rubber flooring which is important for Ms. M's delicate monster paws. The pooches are well supervised and Ms. Bridgid Nolan, part owner, is usually there to recap our pooches' day. One of the main reasons why we trust Unleashed is because of Bridgid. She is very knowledgeable, a great resource, actively involved in the rescue community and she genuinely cares about our dogs, well all dogs. Another reason is Curtis Scott, the dog trainer. We wrote our praises about him on an earlier post, he truly is a pit bull whisperer and we cannot say enough good things about him. We actually discovered Unleashed through Curtis. He leads a dog training class at Unleashed that was extremely useful. We spent months trying to teach Mr. B to lay down and after 5 minutes in his class, Mr. B was laying down like a pro as seen in this picture from class. We cannot say enough good things about Curtis, Bridgid and Unleashed. Here is a video of Mr. B and Ms. M playing at daycare.

What fun! My mom has always wanted to open a Doggy Daycare, I think she just wants to play with doggies all day long!

I used to work at a doggie day care, and it was an awesome job. Fun, fun, FUN all day long.

Well, the poop picking up wasn't fun, but most of the rest of it was fun. Plus I got to bring Ernie to work with me. Bonus.

What fun! The Unleashed here in Dallas does a boxer night and I really want to take Bella.

I love how you can see the tips of their tails moving so fast. They are so happy there.

Yuh, some of those daycare places are NO GOOD! PeeWee goes to one that is extra special and takes really good care of the doggies. It is great exercise and good times.

That looks like an awfully very nice place! I luvs how Mr. B just kept following that guy around. Mom FINALLY found one that she likes. It's actually in this lady's home and she's real good with all us dogs and she LUVS bullys! She has a big ol' pit bull of her own named Rocco, who's just as sweet as punch.

We've been going there for only a few weeks but we're already hopping outta the car and running to see them cuz we're so excited about being there.

Mom says it's nice finding a place where you feel comfy leaving your babies behind at.

Mayzie

Doggy Daycare is a godsend! It has saved us so many times with our crazy schedules.

I have a friend in Chicago who takes her three bully pups to Unleased and I believe I met the owner at a rescue event my friend and I did in Chicago. Unleashed sounds like an awesome place!

That looks like a nice clean facility with good supervision. Our back yard is our daycare center. With ten dogs playing together, it has as much activity as the local daycare center.

We don't do dog parks. PWDs have a habit of staring at people and other dogs and some dogs don't like it and attack. We warn our puppy buyers to watch their dogs closely in dog parks.

I think finding a good fit in dog care services can be tough, but it's very much worth the effort! When you have the right vet, pet sitter, dog walker or whatever, it just makes life so much easier! That looks like a great place!

For years, my mom didn't get it. She loved pit bulls as much as any other breed. She was educated about them and hated the folks that are responsible for the breeds bad rep. We've learned a lot through our pit bull blogger friends though and we now realize why you are so careful. It's not just for your pack but for the breed in general. We felt bad posting about the pit bull attack on our USC mounty demo plus dog training tips post, but we wanted to give accurate information.
See you later, you lovely pack and loving and responsible owners!

That is just awesome!
I so wish Haleigh wasn't so shy - I would love to take her to one of our doggie day cares here, but she would just have a come-apart.
Not in a bad way, but it would just scare her to pieces.

Mr. B is so awesome! I just love him.

i always feel like it's a small world with you guys, but it's really tiny today. i clicked in this from today's post, and was thinking: your dog trainer's name sounds so familiar . . . i recognize it from HSUS! i worked there for a while and did a program evaluation of the End Dogfighting Chicago program, so i spent a lot of time reading Curtis' program notes, weekly and daily logs of outreach, etc. he is awesome!
