DoggyStyle: Dog Walking for All the Single Ladies

Back when Miss M and I were bachelorettes, we were always meeting people during our daily walks. Of course, it really helps that Miss M is such an amazing pick-up artist and 'wing-woman', but all of a sudden we were talking to all kinds of guys. The funny thing was I always wished I wasn't wearing my 'dog-walking uniform' of sweats and sneakers. At the time I could never find a shoe that was comfortable for walking, but still looked nice.
Flash forward a couple of years, we're no longer bachelorettes, but I have finally found the perfect dog-walking shoe:
I discovered Gap's city flats; they look like nice flats, but they feel like slippers. They're comfortable enough to wear for dog walks, but now I can wear something besides sweats and gym clothes:
The best part is that they actually come like this:
They fold in half and come in their own little pouch for easy storage; I started keeping an extra pair in my purse and I'm excited to wear them on the plane for an upcoming trip. Gap has been having these amazing sales that run every few weeks, and you can get them for 30% off. I had to get them a 1/2 size larger than I normally wear. And they come in tons of colors.I have them in black and metallic.
I have heard they don't hold up well in rain, so my other go-to shoe is Merrell's Spire Peak Waterproof boot. They feel like sneakers, but they look classy enough to carry you through the a terrible Chicago winter.

My mom was thinking about buying those Gap shoes! She was wanting them mainly for work when she just can't stand her heels any longer! She really likes the galoshes too!

I dress like a bum when I take Darwin out. Id like to dress up some, but it never fails, when I do wear something that isn't my "dog wear" (rain jacket, fleece sweater, rain boots, old shoes, dog park jeans, etc) I end up with dogs jumping up at me, Darwin (or other Dane) slobber on my sleeves and pants.
I do love those boots and shoes though. Ballet slippers like those never seem to stay on the back of my heel though. Maybe I need to head to Gap and try on a pair!

Snazzy shoes! Mamma's always in sneakers :) Maybe I'll have to save some shells and buy her some new ones.

You're so shnazzy! I walk dogs all day long and have given up all hope in finding a cute yet practical outfit, so you'll find me in sneakers, jeans, and a hoodie pretty much any day that requires a hoodie.

You go girl!

I'm seriously in love with those boots. I like the flats too but have made a vow to not buy leather anymore. I usually wear workout attire when I walk Levi in the afternoon, especially in the winter because the fields at the park get muddy.

Oh, and to answer the question you left me, we are planning on adopting the American Bulldog, barring any huge personality conflicts between him and Levi. We don't anticipate any since they've met already and Neptune is extremely submissive and currently lives with around 12 other dogs:)

I have seen those shoes before and was wondering how well they would be for everyday walking!
Thanks for sharing!
Love the boots too:)

But the real question is: did you and Miss M find your soulmates while on one of these bachelorette walks?

I have to confess. Sometimes my hunny jokes that I look like a homeless person when I go out to walk our wonderdogs-- especially first thing in the morning. Most often, I'm sporting orange flannel PJ pants, brightly colored galoshes, a stained Americorps hoodie, and my hair looks like I just took a ride in the Delorean from Back to the Future. It's a good thing I'm not looking for love.

I love both of your dog walking shoes, and am going to shop for them right now.

We have special dog walking shoes too. His and hers in different colors. We step in deep puddles in the dark, so they are a must.

Ooooo...I'm gonna have to make sure my mom checks out those shoes. You should just SEE some of the stuff she walks me in. (It's a little embarrassing.)

Loveandaleash--Though we never met E and Mr B on these walks, Miss M was quite convincing in meeting other interesting people who treated us to ice-cream and walks in the park. For single people, meeting dates with your dog can be a huge plus; you immediately get to know if they're a dog person, because if they're not compatible with your pooch you just know it wouldn't work. We now loan Miss M out to our single friends.

I was about to say, those flats look great for the summer but what about winter?

I love Merrell's, their footwear is so comfortable and lasts forever. I'll have to check out those boots. They look pretty, too, which goes a long way in my book.

My mom has a serious thing for boots. She has a billion pairs - it is very silly. I better not let her see this post.

I'll definitely have to try those shoes. I'm always looking for comfortable shoes for walking, but as of yet have found few that are very good other than ugly sneakers. One pair that I did find last summer came from Land's End and they were actually very comfortable. They were nice enough to wear with casual skirts and best of all, I got them from their online overstocks, so price was marked down to only approx. $15! I figure I've only paid about a penny per wear so far - haha.

Oh, I can totally relate to the lack of fashion finesse with the dog walking outfits. I'm a bachelorette and Tommy has NOT helped me change this status at all. I think he scares off all the guys. But maybe some new shoes will help. Thanks for the fashion tips!

Dog walking can be good exercise. Walking the dog a few times a week could offer owners health benefits, including increased cardiovascular fitness and lower blood pressure. It is important to prepare for walking your dog like you would prepare for any activity. Pets can have other health benefits including reduced stress.
