We want to thank everyone for your continued support for Shy/Khloe, her family, and everyone who loved her. As Heather puts it best on her blog:
There must be a reason that her life was cut short and I'll hold on to the fact that she is up there in doggy heaven where she can see again and she doesn't need injections anymore. Maybe she can finally eat those tasty treats that she couldn't while here on earth. And maybe she will finally get to chase a cat... that seemed to be her life's ambition :) (Click here for Heather's complete write-up).
We weren't quite sure what to do with the donations and raffle as things have changed a bit, and we wanted to open this up for some comments and discussion.
1) We have heard several people voicing that they would like to see a donation made in Shy/Khloe's honor that could hopefully help another special-needs pitbull.
I know there are several dogs out there with sad stories that are typically passed over as rescues often don't have the funds to pull these dogs. In speaking with one of our pit-friendly rescue organizations, she said we could go down to our city pound, rescue a pitbull that would normally be overlooked, and use the funds to 'fix' the dog and give it another chance for a happy life. So Shy/Khloe's passing would really help give life to another dog in need.
In this case, we would go through with the raffle as scheduled.
2) We could also look into an option of returning the donations. This would allow everyone their own choice of dogs and rescues they would like to support.
3) Other?
Again, we would like to open these ideas up for discussion. Please let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or email us through our 'Contact Us' link on our sidebar.
Thanks again everyone for your support!

I'm voting for using the funds for another special needs pittie.
I vote for helping another special needs pittie! I contributed because I wanted to help out a pittie in need and that is still my desire (even if it can't be Shy).
I also vote for helping another pittie :)
I've seen pics of so many pitties at ACC on Facebook now, most are not on the adoption floor but if you're working with a rescue you should be able to pull one anyway.

Another vote for helping out another pittie in need!
Also voting to helping another pittie in need.
We vote to help another Pittie or two. I am sure there are more out there that would benefit from this. RIP Shy/Khole.....The HoundDogs and HoundDogMom
I'm also voting for helping another pittie!
I say help another spiecal needs pittie! Shy/Khloe lives on forever in our hearts!
I'd also like to see the funds put to use in helping another special needs pittie (or other breed) I think my contribution was ten or twenty dollars - and by itself it really can't do much. But that little bit, in combination with the other donations, can really make a difference. There are so many really wonderful dogs out there who are put down for something easily treatable, like heartworm, just because the funds aren't there to treat them. Whatever the special need, I'd love to know that some other dog would be granted a chance at a happy life in a loving home and that I played some small part in helping that come about. I think it's the best thing we could do to honor Shy's memory and to validate the efforts of those who were personally involved with her rescue and rehabilitation. They deserve their happy ending.
I also vote for giving the funds to another pittie in need! There are so many deserving pits...it would be wonderful if Shy/Khloe's legacy was saving the life of a kindred pittie :)
If pulling a pittie and finding foster space is a challenge, perhaps there is a pittie already in rescue who is facing surgery or high medical bills who we could help? Oftentimes rescues pull a dog and then discover underlying medical needs which they didn't anticipate and don't have the funds available.
I can't think of a better way to celebrate Shy/Khloe's life than to give another dog life in her honor.
I agree with everyone, please use the funds to help another pittie in need, we all know there are too many out there that need help and if my small donation can be a part of that I would be honored.
Absolutely use the money to help another dog in Shy/ Khloes's honor.
We vote for helping another pittie, too.
The Road Dogs
Khloe was given what many dogs dream of...a chance, a family. This money could help out another dog realize that dream too. I vote for helping out another pittie in need. :-)
My dogs would disown me if I voted any other way. :-P
We always like to think things happen for a reason but it sure is hard sometimes. Donating the money to another special needs pitbull is a great idea
Benny & Lily
Please pass the donations on to another pitty.
I vote for helping another pitte in need, and if possible a special needs one!
an easy choice: i vote with everybody else-- help another dog in need. i hate to put any pressure on you, but maybe it's a sign that it's time to foster again?
glad to see you back on the blogosphere,
aleksandra
I was a donor and would love to our money pooled together making a difference. :o) Let's find a pup and give him/her a second chance.
we think one is a great option even though we never got around to entering... darn house buying drama

Id rather the money I donated be passed on to help another dog like Shy rather than get it back.
Or if it was donated to other pittie rescue groups.
help another pittie!!!
I like/vote for #1
Definitely have it go to help another special needs dog!
Your pal, Pip
another pittie.
A special needs pittie would be a great choice, but you could also donate to the World Vets fund to help in Japan, too. I think as long as it goes to help some dog, somewhere, I'd be happy and supportive of your decision!
first choice -- help another special needs pittie
second choice -- houndstooth's idea to donate to world vet's fund for japan
There is no doubt in my mind that you will pick the right thing to do.
I am still so sad about the unexpected lose of Shy.
Give the $ to another special needs dog@
I'm happy to see that everyone is on the same page with helping another pitty! Have you got a rescue lined up to work with?

I agree with the Booker Man above - please give this money to another Pittie in Khloe's honor. If there's none to be found (yeah, right), then the World Vet fund could use it to help the dogs suffering in Japan.
Either way, my donation really wouldn't go very far on its own, but pooled with all these other folks, we could really make a difference for a pup in need.
Oh, no! I guess this happened while we were gone. Our hearts are just broken in two to read abouts dear sweet Shy/Khloe. I'm so very sad for her new family and I just want to thank them a million times over for making her last days so filled with luv and a home of her own.
I'm very much glad to hear, though, that you are gonna help another pittie with the moneys that was raised for Shy/Khloe. I know that would make her all sorts of happy.
Gentle wiggles & wags,
mayzie
