Unlike Miss M who is an original Chicago street dog, Mr. B is a transplant. He grew up in Kalamazoo, Michigan where his previous owners let him roam free. I often imagine him frolicking through shrubbery and rolling in meadows, and I imagine how disappointed he must have been to come to Chicago where we have much concrete and no backyards.
Though Mr. B is quite a good sport and he seems to have adjusted quite well, I still catch him trying to get back to his more naturalistic roots. Whenever we walk past tall leaves and grass, I find him trying to rub against them. Or even trying to smell the flowers:
And he will do anything to be outside just hanging out on the deck. Last year he even stayed out during July 4th, even though our neighborhood sounded like a war zone for 5 hours:
And just the other day, as we had all come in from sitting on the deck, I caught Mr. B under the curtain wistfully looking back out at the outdoors:
I wonder whether dogs are adaptable to their new environments, or whether he will always be a country pitbull at heart?

Awwww....Mr. B. is such a sensitive fellow!
Awwww...what sweet pics! Nyxie was a farm raised pup and any chance she gets to dig in the dirt, she's in heaven. Arwen will pull me over to flowers just to sniff them. I love my hippie pups :)
That picture of Mr. B under the curtain just MELTED my heart! He has a heart of gold, that one!
I PROMISE tonight I will type up our Tourist in you own city post. Ive been so lazy, and can't wait to share it!

I also love the picture of him under the curtain! What a sweet guy! I'm glad he still gets chances to enjoy the great outdoors!
He has such a sweet loveable face!
When Leroy was a puppy he lived on a farm and spent much of his puppy days being outside. He just loves to lay outside in the dirt to this day, and when it is muddy and we have to lay straw down he just lays on the pile. Sometimes I think he wishes he still lived on the farm!
Mr. B is so dreamy :)
he is so freakin cute. i always wonder about things like that too -- our previous foster TANK was totally comfortable, relaxed, and mellow outside, but indoors he was a nut-- made me wonder if he had lived his life outside and thought it was no big deal to be out there.
Chick is from Texas, and L-O-V-E-S the heat. Even on the hottest day, he will seek out the sunny spots of the yard and lay in them, tongue hanging, big smile on his face. They say you can take the dog out of Texas, but you can't take Texas out of the dog :)
Mr. B sure does have a case of the good looks!

Oh Mr. B are you hiding? BOL

Those pictures are priceless. I love the one of him smelling the plant.
Mr. B is such a sweetheart. I do think dogs are city dog or country dogs. Pip is definitely a city dog - he loves to visit the country, but he is always a little nervous. We will see what happens if we move!
The Red Door walk is Sunday, June 12th not this Sunday. Sorry, if I confused you!
Have you taken them to any of the dog parks in the suburbs? We love prairie wolf in Lake Forest and it's huge, green, and super fun.. we visit on the weekends if we're not going to the beach or up north.
I love how delicately he was sniffing that flower (weed?). He is such a sweet soul!
Those pictures are great of Mr. B. I love the one where he is stopping to smell the flowers. You can tell he has a wonderful life with you all and that's all that matters!
Aww, he sounds like a real nature lover, but seems to have adapted to life in the big city -- catching and enjoying nature at every opportunity. Sometimes, when surrounded by concrete and steel, that bit of nature at the park, at the lake, even the flowers over in the next block, seems to be appreciated just a little bit more.
Awww Mr B!
Darwin LOVES being outside. Our balcony is being worked on so its completely closed off. Now that the sun's out, Darwin will sit at the sliding door and just look back at us like "why can't I go out on my balcony? the sun is out!".
I do love Mr. B! I just adore him, and those pictures of him are so sweet! I think he'll always be a country dog at heart. Any chance you can take him somewhere out of the city sometime for a little romp?
Maybe he needs a potted plant of his own? Or a vacation to the country?

He's a city and country rolled into one. Pawfect!
That last photo is classic!

Love, love, love your photography of the pitties. What smoochable faces! Although Mr. B may want to roam the countryside, he seems to have a pretty good life. :-)

Mr. B is so handsome and cute!! I found his identical twin on Petfinder! http://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/19777060
Mr. B can come and enjoy our newly planted grass because our two certainly aren't! They would rather lie on the patio and Neptune now won't even poop in the yard in the morning. Talk about city dogs! However, Levi does like to bake in the sun, so I guess he does like to have an outdoor space.
Beautiful pitties. Mr. B has look alike in San Diego #milesgutie on IG.
