Daily Walk in 10 (+1) Pictures: Food Trucks

The guy in front of me in line for Haute Sausage, summed it up best, when he stated that he waited all week for this. We only found out last week about Food Truck Tuesdays, a food truck gathering that was occurring all summer in CB2's parking lot in Lincoln Park. A and I love street food, but we only have the elotes stands in our neighborhood, which we love, and we sometimes venture to Humboldt Park to get jibaritos from the Puerto Rican food trucks. So it is nice to see some additional options for "street food" that are fairly nearby and not in the loop. Hopefully soon, they can start preparing and cooking the food in their trucks. Regardless, I have to say that the sausage sliders at the Haute Sausage truck were mighty delicious and my favorite and A loved her pastrami sandwich from the Bergstein's NY Deli Truck.
But, we weren't done, we ordered a bag of tasty sweet potato chips and a caprese slider from The Slide Ride and fantastic tacos from Taquero Fusion.
The real treat were the ice cream for the pooches from Arrf Scarf food cart. Mr. B could not stop licking his chops as he looked through both the pup's menu and the people's menu. Ms. M was so excited to put in their order for two Peanut Butter Bacon ice creams.
While Mr. B wanted me to feed him, Ms. M just went to town on her own. She didn't even wait for us to put the ice cream on the floor.
She really got into the ice cream and made sure that she licked every nook and cranny in the ice cream cup. That is the face of one real satisfied customer.

This is so fun! Food trucks have been big in Austin for years now, and they have recently become all the rage in DC. But food trucks where they don't actually cook in the truck? I've never heard of such a thing! All of ours are all-in-one.
I hope the trend keeps growing!

Peanut Butter ice cream! Yum!
That is really neat about the food trucks, we don't have those here!
(maybe we do and I just haven't seen them)

Looks like fun was had by all - and my dogs are so jealous! Bacon ice cream! That alone is worth moving to Chicago for, in their opinion.

There's a cupcake truck that often parks near my office downtown. The line is usually a half block long!

Mmmmmm...peanut butter bacon ice cream. Not sure I could hand that treat over to the dogs without a taste myself. Or maybe licking the cup clean a la Ms M!

Food trucks are my favorite! Portland completely changed me over to loving them! I bet those peanut butter bacon ice creams would be good for humans too!!

Food trucks are the best! And ice cream is delicious too. I think they're the best part about summer.

We have a lot of food trucks in my neighborhood in Brooklyn. My favorite is the Belgian waffle truck. But I don't know of any that serve doggie delights. I'll have to look into that. Reggie would love bacon ice cream.

Ms. M does look quite pleased with her dessert!! What a great way to try different things. Hopefully, they'll expand as it becomes more well known.

Great pictures! Ms. M looks very happy with her ice cream. Love food trucks. We have a similar event here called Off the Grid. Happens a few times a week through out San Francisco. Unfortunately no one offers any dog friendly treats :-\

As soon as I saw the two words "food truck" I was immediately drawn in. I love street food and in my opinion, that's what the summer is all about. I love that there is a truck made for dogs! How awesome can you get?

Chicago here we come!

I can never decide what to get when i go to our city's food vendor area, either! Our girls would be dancing in the streets for some of that ice cream! I love Mr. B and Ms. M's faces!

I love that Chicago seems to be such a 'dog friendly' city. I don't know anywhere here (Tasmania, Australia) that would bother making up ice cream for dogs (although both my two would adore it!)
Wondeful post. Ms M's satisfaction is clearly evident.

I can't imagine any of my guys - okay, maybe Oliver - being so well-behaved with an ice cream cup. I just picture the entire cup being gulped down with the ice cream! Mr. B and Ms. M are so well-mannered!

I pretty much make the same face as Miss M. in that last picture after enjoying ice cream.

Food trucks are getting really big here too. The first Food Truck Friday was a block from our house last month, but they ran out of food before we got there! Luckily, it's in the same spot this year, so we'll have to try to get earlier to score some yummy food.
