I know sometimes people feel sorry for city dogs, with our
lack of backyards, green space and abundance of concrete. But at the same time, we've all learned to adapt and we just have a bit of a different type of recreation: like a
dog-friendly, fall-festival, high-end design show.
This festival blocks off a major Chicago street turning it into a combination 'urban fall orchard' and high-end design show. With all the unique furniture and design stores along Grand Avenue, the
Design Harvest Festival displayed the best-of their offerings: a mix of scarecrows, hay bales draped with tartan throws, high-end furniture,
Fido to Go dog-treat truck, and a design tent--that was also dog-friendly!
There were plenty of pooches in attendance, and dogs were welcome to join their owners checking out the wares. We met up with neighbors, and SociaBulls members,
Sweet, Sweet Daisy and
Super-Smiley Willie:
Maybe we don't have real pumpkin patches and orchards, but it's always fun to see a Chicago street transformed, and
end a walk with some doggie-ice-cream. Plus, it's always great to widen our dogs' worlds and get them out in some new environments. Of course, Miss M had to be the only pooch without a big smile on their face:

We are totally amazed at all the things you bring to our attention for live in the City. When we first started following your blog, I thought how can you have two Pitties in the City. Well you have shown me a different life for the City. You guys amaze me with all you do for your pitties. I think sometimes fur-kids that don't have a yard actually get more walks, attention then one with a fenced yard. I find myself saying heck they got the yard, why do we need to do extra walks. But we have been doing more walks lately and trying to get out more with Winston and Amiee. I actually get a little jealous of your family in the city with all you do with the fur-kids. Ooh, did you get anything at the Harvest? We couldn't make it, but picked a yard sale and found some goodies to take home that way!

What a super fun time! I've never had doggie ice cream. Does it taste like cheese?
I think Miss M isn't smiling because she has to concentrate REAL hard on willing people over to pet her.

How cool is this? I guess the beauty of city life is that there is always SOMETHING to do. It's great that you make a point of taking advantage of the opportunities.

The Grand Avenue design shop I run has always been dog-friendly, but during Design Harvest, we met so many new dogs that we nearly ran out of treats. We're all restocked now, so if you're walking in our neighborhood, stop in at SG Grand--No. 1822--where good dogs are always welcome and treats & fresh water are always just inside our door.
