Pooches: MacGuyver with Dogs

I've been a little bit obsessed with this video lately discovering how many ways I can make life simpler with everyday things. So of course, I started thinking about how sometimes we are a bit MacGuyver using everyday objects to solve some of our dog emergencies.
Here are some things we've been doing:

If you're on a walk and you need a makeshift waterbowl....
use an empty poo bag! Just roll it up to make it small enough so your dog can easily drink.

If you've been looking for a leash with an extra grip....
just tie knots into your existing leash. We tie knots in a couple different spots to give us an extra grip.

If your going on a walk and you realize you don't have any pockets....
use carabiners! We use carabiners to attach our keys and collapsable water bowls to our leash or harness. And since we all know dog equipment can fail carabiners can also create extra security. Notes from a Dogwalker wrote this really great post about using carabiners to secure dog equipment.

What are some other tips you've learned to use everyday materials with your pups?

LOL - having horses, we've found 101 uses for the string that tie the hay bales. We keep several in each car. They make quick leashes, gate ties, collars - and you don't have to worry about losing them!

We don't have any novel pup-related lifehacks to share, but we love your knotted leash trick! I counted 5 knots in each leash this morning...not the prettiest, but so functional when a rabbit or squirrel darts across our path.

Our leashes have a D ring on the end so we can loop the leash through it to create a training lead. Comes in handy of a dogs collar fails.

Great idea re: the poop bags for water! I never thought about that.

I need some MacGuyver tips on what to do if you run out of poop bags! Just last week, I ran out of them on our walk and had to climb into a bush where a disgarded Dominick's bag had flown. That was embarrassing.

ok, so I'm Googling dogs on beds for ideas and UP pops these ADORABLE faces. So now I'm trying to figure out how to Follow your blog so that I can come back and read EVERY post. (I've already read several!) so...maybe I missed the "button", I guess I'll follow you on Facebook. (but could you add a link or maybe one to follow by email?)
Thanks! I'll be back! :D

If you were as fashion-forward as I am, you would know that the only way to walk your dog when you don't have pockets is to wear a fanny pack. But seriously, I will have to remember the dog poop bag as water bowl trick!
