Things to Do with Your Dogs in Chicago: Long Walks on the Lake

We are always looking for unique dog-friendly activities. While sometimes we make the stretch discovering dog-friendly dog stores and bars with dogs. little did we realize we completely under-rated one of the best dog-friendly activities: going for long walks on the lake.
Chicago has an amazing 18 mile lakefront trail stretching along the city and encompassing a diverse grouping of neighborhoods. With skyline views, boats, and beaches, it makes even the most mundane daily walk that much more exciting.

It's so awesome that you guys have such a variety of locations to walk. I imagine the pups (and you!) never get bored.

Can the dogs swim in the lake? I'm heading to Rosemont tomorrow, wish I could bring them!

We love the lakefront and harbors, especially now that beach season and marathon training are over. The big concrete steps that line the water (north of Fullerton) are the perfect place to walk/run the boys since we aren't battling the runners and bikers who stick to the path, and I swear each time we finally get to the lake from our mile-long walk east, the boys get these blissful looks on their faces. It's like we're all smacked in the face by nature when we get to the lake.
