Pooches: The Best Gifts Ever

I usually have a hard time choosing gifts for people. I want to get them something that can be put to good use, and not clutter up their homes. Recently we were the recipients of some great gift ideas perfect for dog people.
A friend of mine surprised us with these mugs with the pooches faces. Since we love brunches accompanied by: tea, hot chocolate, and soups, these were the perfect gift for us. She was just able to take the pictures from our website, and now we can have the pooches with us at all times. Here is Mr. B looking just like his photo. I guess he only has one "look":
We also had another friend who, as a wedding gift, made a donation to the dog rescue group in our name. We hadn't thought of this before, and we were so happy about the idea. Many gifts just sit around without being used, but this donation is perfect because it's helping save dogs.
Finally, we wanted to share these gifts from our dogwalker. She bought an array of gifts which were perfect for the pooches. Mr. B. loves fluffy toys and was quick to claim this fluffy yellow bone:
While Miss M. fancies herself a soccer player and loves this big ball. Look at her grip; I think she'd make a great goalie.
We were so happy with these great ideas from our friends. Does anyone else have any good ideas to pass along?

Great gifts! That ball looks especially good.

By the way, I saw your comment on another blog that rats eat dog poo. Interesting. We have rats in our backyard, but I think they're so busy eating the fruit from our trees that they don't have to eat dog poo. but just in case, I'll be even more vigilant about picking it up.

My favorite gift is a gift certificate to a pet supply store, like a Petsmart or Petgo or an online store like my personal faves, Petfood Direct and Amazon.

I make homemade dog treats for family and friends at Christmas and other holidays. It is a fun to bake different treats and bust out the goofy cookie cutters that I don't normally use through out the year.

I *really* like the donation idea, that is fabulous!

I like it when people get toys for our pups because we don't really buy them toys. Is that mean? I dunno- I often find they go crazy for a plastic water bottle in a sock, so I often don't bother with anything new. So when they DO get a new toy, it is pretty awesome.

Fortunately my friends and fam pick high quality gifts as well so I don't have to run around plying cheap plastic from their jaws ;)

Those are awesome mugs!
Yes, Mr. B does seem to have just one look. But it is quite a handsome look, no?

Great gifts!
One thing I did this past Christmas for gifts was make a calendar of pictures of Darwin from the last year to give to some family members and friends. I also included some of her closest pals and gave those to our friends.

About the scarf... she was my model, Im not sure who it's going to be for... Im worried its too short for me (40" or so) cause I like long scarves!
And yes.. the table she can totally take things off of, though she mostly knows not to. She can reach the kitchen counters and has lately taken to counter surfing. I put an apple on the counter to core for her, and turned around to get the corer, and when I turned around again she had taken the apple to the living room!

Those are some wonderful gifts! We've also been blessed with some wonderful greyhound artwork over the years that we've really loved.

Those are great gifts! I like the idea of useful gifts, too, ones that don't just sit around. Food is always a good gift, too. I don't normally buy myself specialty food items so when I get those items as gifts I can enjoy something nice that won't be around to collect dust or take up space. The same goes for pups -- what with all the specialty dog biscuits and dog bakeries, I'm sure that would be a great pup gift that doesn't get wasted (unless of course the dog doesn't like to eat!). I like the idea of the donation to the doggie rescue -- if you can find a cause that the recipient would really like, then the gift of a donation in their name is a nice gift and doing good at the same time.

Mr. B looks so cute looking at his mug on the mug!

I've gotta say I don't think I'd want to high-five Ms. M, she has some serious looking paws!
Unfortunately I'm the most boring, unimaginative gift giver in the world! But I do love the mugs and I just recently joined Shutterfly so I'd like to think there may be some fun gifts in my family's future. I'd like to have photo books made for each of my kids. Pictures can also be transfered (via ink jet printers) to high quality muslin and then made into quilt squares; like I'll ever get around to that!

The best gift I received this year for Christmas was a big donation to Best Friends.

I had some friends who just got married, they actually requested money be sent to their favorite rescue group. They even provided a link to the groups website from their wedding page.
