This past week we were actually able to get away for a much needed Spring Break. Knowing that local thieves are now Internet savvy, we made sure to keep our "blog on" as well the lights in our condo so people wouldn't realize we were gone. We made our way down to Tulum, Mexico, a small, remote beach town far from the bustle and shenanigans of Cancun.
The town is filled with cabanas where the beach is a mere 15 yards from your hut. You get your own private, secluded beach, and we got to see a lot of this:Meanwhile, the pooches were having their own vacation in the "Chicago Countryside" aka: northern Chicago suburbs. We were lucky enough to have E's mother offer to watch the dogs where they lived like they were at their own bed and breakfast. In the suburbs, they were able to have their very own lawn to roll around in:Far from the city lights they were able to gaze at the stars:And best of all, they got couch privileges, something we struggle with at home:We all had a great time, but it was also nice to return back to the city to surprise 70 degree temperatures in Chicago. And in April! The hardest part of our trip were the airports. I guess we're not the only ones on Spring Break or traveling for holiday; the lines were so outrageous we almost missed our connecting flights. Anyone else planning any fun trips soon?

Oh gosh, your trip looks amazing! It's great you have family that can watch your pups. When we go anywhere not pup friendly the kiddlets have to to go the pet hotel, but they are favorites and I suspect they get extra attention from the staff who happen to all be from one family.
We have NO plans for any trips right now, I'd like to plan something while I'm on maternity leave. We've always wanted to take the train from CA to Chicago to visit my parents and it might be fun with a baby to get a sleeping car. I think the trip takes 2-3 days. We will see if we are brave enough!
I'm planning a trip to Baltimore... or 30 trips to Baltimore... Glad you got the enjoy some sun :)
Good idea to not share too much of your plans ahead of time! And I really enjoyed your "look back" posts while you were gone. :-)
Golly, I'm glad you're back! We've missed you a lot around here. You missed my Gotcha Birthday but I forgive you.
I'm Most Happy you and Mr. B and Miss M had a relaxing vacation. Mom and Dad said this fall we might go explore some parts of Collie-rado we've never seen. And me and Brudder Ranger gets to go along! I can't wait!
Welcome Back Wiggles & Wags,
Mayzie
How do you like that? You were in Mexico and I was in Chicago! Evanston, actually. The weather was superb, much better than in Connecticut. It sound like you had a fantastic vacation, and so did the pooches. (And grandparents were invented for the sole purpose of spoiling their grandkids. Let's face it!)
Yes, that is definitely a smile while enjoying the couch.
There's nothing like a visit to the grandparents' to really spoil the babies. We too are enjoying unseasonably good weather here in the Big City (it's actually warmer here than when I was in Florida last week).
We are traveling to Germany next month for a wedding (I'm currently in the process of making the required evening gown and hoping it turns out good enough to wear!). But this means Chlorox (who's a mommy's girl) will be alone for two weeks with only daily checks by my daughter and I'm hoping she'll be okay.

That looks heavenly, for both the human vacation and the doggie vacation :) We're glad you had some nice R & R!
What a great vacation for all of you!
