One of the highlights of our summer is heading out to Lakeview and supporting the Gay Pride Parade. This is an amazing event where the community gathers in support of equality and gay rights. It's a huge party in the street complete with beads, feathers, thumping music, and fantastic people watching:E and I came dressed in these shirts from Stonewall.org in the UK which read: "Some People are Gay. Get Over It." The pooches came appropriately dressed in costume; Miss M was a ballerina, and Mr. B was a cowboy. Some of the parade marchers even showed up in the same outfit as Mr. B:
There were plenty of celebrities:And an appearance by Brent Sopel and the Stanley Cup:
My favorite part was the ROTC: Righteously Outrageous Twirling Corps:Miss M actually thought the parade was on the other side and she would stare at the people walking down the sidewalk. She really enjoyed getting petted and meeting new people. People kept surrounding them and asking to take photos. It was like they had their own paparazzi.
Miss M even found herself a new owner she wanted to go home with. She pretended she didn't know us anymore, even though I was still holding her leash.
We love taking the pooches out to meet people and demonstrate what pitbulls are really like. This was especially appropriate at the Pride Parade with issues of equality and discrimination. The pooches were a huge hit; I'm guessing it's the costumes.

We loves the gay pride parade. Of course momma and master were not too happy the year they marched in it and got stuck behind the Bears. All those hairy backs! Ish!
Slobbers,
Mango
I think you live in the most dog-friendly and exciting town!!
Mom says I wouldn't do to good at a parade, but I think she doesn't know what she's barking about!
Have a great week!,
Mack
Those two could go in their birthday suits and still make friends! But, the costumes just make them cuter!!
Thanks for posting these pictures! We didn't make it this year - cleaned out our basement instead!
Mr. B. - looks like you fit right in with your cowboy hat. And of course, I always love a pink tutu - and have one or two (don't tell anyone!)
Your pal, Pip
Those costumes are perfect! So cute.
Don't you just love that feeling, like you're chopped liver at the end of the leash while your dogs work the crowd and pretend that they are considering going off with someone else? lol I loved their costumes! No wonder everybody wanted to see them -- they stole the show!
It was really cool seeing all your pictures of the event! Thanks for sharing all of those!
I loved the picture of Miss M sitting with her 'new' human. Silly girl. Nobody will love her as much as her mama and papa!
The parade looked like an absolute hoot. I wish I could convince Quizz to wear more than a bandana.
Looks like you had a pawesome day out and you both looked wonderful.
Thank you for voting for me in the comp it is very much appreciated
hugs
Mollys Mom
What a Most Marvelous day for everybuddy! I luv that Miss M gots appropriately fawned over. They're both so cute how could you NOT fawn over them? I bet they thought that all those peoples came out just for them.
And my mom TOTALLY wants one of those t-shirts!

You are so right!! What better place to teach people about the true nature of the pitties than at the Pride Parade!! Great pictures! Glad you had a good time!!
Jess
I wish my dog was well behaved enough to go out in public like that, she'd bark her head off for the entire day! We're working on that...
I love reading about them! Good post!
That is awesome!
We missed the Gay Pride Day here in Nashville - but it is no where near what y'all do in Chicago!
The kids look great! Love Ms. M's tutu (we have that one too and Haleigh hates it!)
Mr. B is such the handsome one with his cowboy hat - he would fit right in here in Nashville!
Look at all those crazy costumes. You guys look adorable with your parade clothes on. BOL what a fun event!
Benny & Lily
I love the costumes on Ms M and Mr B!
How fun! I was taking my mom and aunties around town so we missed the parade, but the space needle had a giant rainbow flag on the top!
Oh looks like sooo much fun! For everyone, not just the pooches :)
What a fun day!! I used to love going to the GP parade in NYC...and in Asbury Park, NJ...If they had one in Austin this year, we missed it.
That looks lie the MOST FUN, especially with your fancy outfits. Of all three of us Otis Potus is most fond of meeting strangers. Next year we will put him in a tutu and take him to Philly for the Pride parade. Do they make tutus in husky size?
The Sheps w/Pep.
ps. Our ape is a little nostalgic for Chicago where our Onkel Eric used to live. She has a pittie friend named Stanley who still lives there.
So fantastic- such great pictures! Good for you guys for getting out and showing your support!
How much fun was that! I love their costumes - especially the fact that Mr. B matched some of the people marching. They really are celebrities. Maybe next year they can be IN the parade!
Looks like a great time!
Wags!
Mr. Nubbin'
I love Mr.B in the hat. He looks so happy. Baily used to always try and go home with new families when we went out.
Hello we are your newest followers! How Cute were you two all dressed up for the Parade. Looks like you both had alot of fun at the Parade. If you have a chance check us out Thanks!
Your New Friends at
Life with 5 dogs.
mr. b is just about the cutest cowboy dog i've ever seen, and of course miss m looks precious in her ballerina costume. love it!!
those two are always making new friends! :) looks like you guys had a great time at the parade!!!
Is it bad I secretly want a female dog so that I can buy pink accessories for her? Seeing Miss M. like this doesn't help! Shh, don't tell my husband.
I love seeing your pups out working the crowds and spreading the pittie love. We went to the park where our gay pride parade was held, but it was too hot for Levi to stay for the parade. But instead of trolling for attention, he trolled for bits of food left on the ground from the previous day.
I've been to the Tornto Gay Pride two times and it's the best! I loved the Mounty float with the slogan 'A mounty always gets his man!' Sitting atop the float were two male mounties who just got married. We had too much fun and had a hard time going to work the next day.
Your ballerina and cowboy are adorable!
I love them in costume for the pride parade! I miss it. It's just not as big here in Pittsburgh.
