Though we live in a huge city, I'm not privy to any bars that accept dogs. Sure, dogs can join us at the outdoor cafes, but I always envied the Bad Mutha Fudruckers crew whose two pitbulls are regulars at a neighborhood bar.
Last weekend we attended another fundraiser for Project Rescue. Right after their adoption event, they "took over" a local bar where their volunteers worked as bartenders with all tips going straight to the dogs. Since we love supporting dog rescues doing things we would do anyway, we stopped by for a few drinks, making sure to tip big. The best part was the pooches were allowed in the bars. Given Miss M's drinking problem, we usually don't have her around alcohol. This time it wasn't the alcohol that was the problem, but Miss M just really, really wanted to meet people and have them pet her.
Like a true 'girl of the bar', Miss M strategically positioned herself in front of the Men's Restroom; that way she could make contact with guys as they were entering and leaving the restroom. Plus, the ones waiting in line would be forced to pet her for an extended period of time. Here she is cruising for guys:Miss M quickly learned it would be even better to position herself right by the front door. This way she could check out everyone coming in, and greet them appropriately. Here she is edging in on some conversations of people she just met:
Meanwhile, Mr. B acted at home in the bar like a true Chicago guy. Even though this other dog was barking at him, he still remained calm listening to sports on the TV:
And like the true class act she is, Miss M eventually passed out in the middle of the floor. Her head was literally centimeters from this guy's heel, and people were stepping over her. And all she drank was water.

Just water, huh Ms. M? Looks like you're a light weight.
If you ever make it down to Wilmington, we'll show you guys how to party Bad Mutha Fudrucker-style!
Too funny! Miss M is a smart girl...she knows what she's doing!
Miss M is hilarious but shameless. C'mon, cruising for guys in bars? Passing out on the floor? I don't know about her...
Miss M! You are quites the barfly. Or bardog? Either way, you most obviously made a big HUGE impact! Sorry that nobuddy gave you any beer, though. Kinda mean, if you asks me.
Anyways, I'm glad both you and Mr. B had loads of fun!

That sounds like so much fun!
What a fun afternoon that must have been. Hope you weren't too watered over Ms. M!!
Miss M you hilarious hussy! You sure know how to work a room!
Aww, how cute -- a girl's gotta know how to get some attention, and Miss M. sure does!! Sounds like a great event!
Bwaaa ha ha ha! But what was in that water?
I am so envious that you have all those cool places to go to with the dogs!
Miss M. would probably love Brooklyn, which is where I came from originally. Lots and lots of dog friendly bars there. She could cruise for hipster guys and pass out every night of the week. If she wanted to.

ummm, miss m, are you sure it was just water and not the vodkas? i'm just sayin'.
*woof*
the booker man
We love that! We're always looking for places that will let us in with Mom & Dad. We were recently in Va. City, MT and we noticed a dog wander into a bar from the street. No one said a word! We might have to move there!
Following you back, love your blog...thanks!

Sometimes just getting adoration can be quite intoxicating.

Oh, your dogs are adorable. Pitbull are amazingly sweet. I volunteered in an association that rescued fight dogs, there were a lot of pitbulls of course. Too bad i couldn't keep any of them with me...and that's only because i have rescued and kept eight cats!
Good thing Miss M stayed sober :) Looks like a great event!
I could kick myself! Back when I was single why didn't I think to park myself by the men's room door?
Oh that Miss M.
