She is kind of like that really fun person you meet who is the life of the party, and you can't believe that they have their full attention focused on hearing what you have to say:
She gives her total, overattention, staring with bulging eyes, and swaying her entire body in a wiggle, and curling her lips back into her version of a smile, until the person is lured into coming to meet her:
It is hard to capture her charisma in photos, but you can definitely see her allure in this video. On every walk she can't just walk with us, but she has to check out the crowd and see if there is anyone worth meeting:
She has to do the complete head-swivel guilting them if they pass her by:
Of course, this can be alarming to some people who aren't prepared for a pit bull staring at them with curled back lips.
She definitely introduced me to a ton of people, especially guys. See, I think Miss M's first owner was a big guy because she would always get even more excited when she saw big guys pass her on the street. And she would get to the point where she would even try sitting on their lap and going home with them:
And while it was great to meet more people as a single gal, the only drawback was Miss M didn't have a filter; she just wanted to meet anyone. So often times I was forced into conversations with weirdos because Miss M loved the attention and just didn't want to leave.Anyone else have a dog keeping you awkward situations?

Flash is pretty similar to Miss M. She thinks everyone should stop and see her and gives that same offended look if they ignore her. Thankfully, we haven't been put in too many awkward situations!
People are drawn to Sam the same way. He is so charming - especially to girls, and he really does make you feel like he has been waiting there for you.
Sam
Emma's very nosy - she likes to know what EVERYONE's doing and will stop in the middle of the street to just watch someone. Sometimes she'll go over for a pat, but usually she chickens out and runs over to momma.
Charlie, on the other hand, doesn't believe that anyone in the world exists except for momma, well except if you have food, and then you exist only until you give it to him for his very charming smile and perfect sit. (He needs to carry a "will work for food" sign!)
The cat and bunny love people though. Once I get them walking on the street on leashes with the dogs I'm sure I'll finally have a conversation piece!
Mesa loves all the homeless people in LA. ALL OF THEM so I always politely say hi and then we go on our way

Miss M!!
Once, we were walking the dogs and a car pulled up along side of us. A scantily clad woman, in short shorts and thigh high boots jumped out and ran up to my husband, to pet Stanzie and squeal "What kind of dog is that?"
Now he wants to take the dogs everywhere! Haha
That pit bull charisma is really an essential part of their breed makeup! It's so surprising to people who only know the media headlines... and it actually can turn their minds completely around. "what, the media has LIED to me about these dogs???"
Miss M is a saint for our breed.
I cause awkwardness in the opposite way. I am selective about who I like. If I like you, I will schmooze and sit in your lap (yes, all 70 pounds of me). If I don't like you, I give the cold shoulder and pretend you are not there. Mom finds that awkward when people who seem nice want to pet me and I act like they do not exist. They always look like their feelings are hurt. Works well though for people who are afraid of shepherds because I don't want to acknowledge them either. I was feral when I was young and was scared to death of everyone, even mom. So for me to interact with 25% of the people we meet is a huge accomplishment!
Tucker is the same way. The world is his oyster and everyone in it put there to adore him and be adored by him. Is it wrong that my dog has a better personality than I do?
Tucker's Mom
Haha! Miss M is sure a social butterfly. I luvs peoples, too, but sometimes I can be shy about going up to them uninvited. I bet I could learn lots from Miss M!
Wiggles & Wags,
Mayzie
Darwin's the same way. She LOVES people, though not in the dark and not wearing hats. But if we are walking down the street and someone passes without saying hi, she'll stop and turn and watch them walk away.
booker is just like miss m -- gotta meet everyone right now right now right now!! if you don't stop to pet him, he will whine at you. it's really funny to watch.
the booker man and asa's mama
That's what's so nice about dogs, they are so happy to see you and so grateful for the attention too...everybody feels loved :)
Happens to me all the time too. Both of my chihuahuas are so darn cute and little - everyone wants to stop and meet the pups.
Ms M I know exactly how you feel. I call myself the chick magnet. You do have an adorable grin!
Benny (& Lily)
I have talked to so many nutty people since T2 joined our family! I have a whole series of conversations that I've written down to use in my blog when I run out of new things to talk about. I'm actually even willing to admit that our new neighborhood is so much more pit bull friendly and chill that I worry that I don't get as many stories out of walks now - a little disappointing, nice as it is.
Kayloo stares and cocks her head back and forth at people. It usually makes people laugh- makes me laugh too :)
Who could resist that beautiful face anyway? Mom & Dad like to eat out (a lot!) and when they go to places that allow dogs, they sometimes take one of us (five would just be too much for any establishment) BUT if they don't feel like chatting with strangers, they just go alone because people around here always want to chat when dogs are around and the food gets cold and on and on . . .
The Road Dogs
Oh, heavens yes! Bunny is a social butterfly of the highest order, and she has fans wherever she goes -- the nursing home, the pet store, the dog park. We now have a fan at the dog park that just makes me cringe when I see her there, because she's obsessed with Bunny. I try to watch the dogs when we go to the dog park, but this woman wants to talk my ear off about Bunny, and to see her run. Um, well, anyway, the short answer to your question is yes! lol
This sounds too familiar, all the way down to the guy thing. I have no doubt Stella would leave me in a heartbeat for any man. Must be from all those boys on the carnival that used to bring her little stuffed animals to play with. She can be walking along bored and see some man looking our way and she'll start doing "the walk" which is really more of a prance. It's charming and embarrassing all at the same time.
Pip attracts lots of attention, but fortunately he is not usually that interested in meeting other people. The exception is kids - he loves kids and kids love him.

Our dog Abbey is same as Miss M. When she was a puppy, I thought somebody would accuse me of walking/stealing somebody else's dog. If somebody would be talking around Abbey, she would stop and wouldn't move because she thought that they were talking to her and she had to meet them. It was embarrassing because she would do this anywhere and at any time. There was no way of persuading her to move her butt and walk again.
She's now year and half and walks by my side, but she's always ready to show her charming personality to anybody who cares to meet her, look at her or talks to her. We call her a party girl :)
I know Ms M would catch my attention on the street! I never thought about the non-filter problem. Nope, don't have that problem with my scaredy-girl. I think I often come off as rude when I jump into the bushes to find a safe spot for Kona. =)
PS-Yeah, there were three waves for the marathon start, I think all 30 minutes apart.
Thoroughly enjoyed the video of the wiggler waggler :) Mom says she would have had to jump the barricade to say hi to her :) She can be a little over exuberant sometimes "Sigh"
Waggin at ya poochies, ma and pops :)

Love it! Bogart wants to meet everyone only because he thinks all humans have food for him. :)
Hi Y'all!
Just stopped by to see what y'all are up to this week.
I'm definitely a "pester for attention kinda guy". My Humans say I overwhelm guests and at 100lbs that is not necessarily a good thing. However, out and about I'm usually more reserved.
Y'all come by now,
Hawk aka BrownDog
Heh. One of the reasons I like walking with my dog is that she actually gets me out of such awkward situations. More than a few minutes in one place has her getting anxious. Once the barking begins, I can make a quick exit. :-)
Though there are many times when I wish she had a little more social skills.
Oh Miss M - that first picture is priceless! You have a beautiful face :)
filter--ha! no kidding. it drove me nuts that my dog was kind to slimy ones. there was a guy at the dog park by our old house who said he loved to rub tamale's boobies. ew! but did tamale see him as creepy? no, she ran to him every time he came to the park.
dang.
Miss M is just too charming. i especially loved the photo with her head looking over her shoulder, cocked a bit and giving a guilt trip face.
Trouper, Charlie, and Oliver would befriend anyone who would have them! I've always said that if anyone broke into the house Trouper would lead them to the "good stuff" as long as they played with him for awhile first.
Lucy is very shy with new people and hides and Buster... Well, let's just say he likes new people after he's had the chance to protect the family!
We have met lots of people & dogs, at first I used to get John into trouble I was so Grumpy but now I am happy Bobby lots of people like me now. I still grump at the odd dog but I am glad when John tells me to move on, I seem to pick the dogs that would eat me whole.
Kirby also loves men, I also think his former owner was a man, as he loves my dad, my brother in law, the neighbor guy! Dogs definitly help to break down the barriers in life don't they!
Kirby's mom
Before he met me, T used Molly to pick up girls. A quick "Who's that?!" and Molly will trot over to whoever you're pointing at. It was such a big hit his college roommates started doing it too. Molly has been the catalyst for many relationships :)
Sienna loves to greet everyone she meets. The other day she wouldn't leave the park because she wanted to hang out with a little kid who was on the slide. And before that she was pestering a bunch of teens trying to rehearse a play scene. I've gotten to the point where I just tell people she has to say hi to everyone. Seattle is pretty dog-friendly so no one seems to mind.
I have a new blog!
