But, we think it's even better because they have the entire city for a backyard. We are forced to go on multiple walks where we get to spend more time with our pooches exploring neighborhoods, meeting people, and through these adventures they become more tolerant to the sounds and chaos of the city. Which they enjoy.
Though being a true country dog, poor Mr. B just loves to be outside, and he only has a wooden deck to lay on.
So we decided to play 'Daddy Warbucks' and create an outdoor scene for our Mr. B. Though since this is reality, we just have this little tree, which is kind of confusing for him:
Though we did add these flower boxes and a couple more trees:
Giving him his own "urban backyard".

So amazing, Im always envious of your outdoor space!
We have a backyard and it's not nearly as nice as your outdoor balcony space, haha. We used to live in a small apartment with three big dogs and space was never really an issue. I think it forced to get out more, which is so great for dogs on so many levels.
You know we love a good, urban "back yard." Nothing beats it!
oh man, now i have to go work on our yard so i don't feel so shamed by you. sheesh!
no, but in all seriousness-- looks great!
ps- the photos look very light today-- did you change some settings on your comp?
We think your urban backyard looks very cozy and inviting!
I love your outdoor space and think it's perfect for those two! You live in such a fun city to explore!
Haha Mr. B looks like he appreciates the added nature to the outdoor space! Do you ever take the pooches on day trips to more rural areas? I wonder how Mr. B would react after all this time in the city...
When I lived in an apartment, it forced me to get out and take our dogs on walks daily - now that we have a fenced backyard, I sometimes find myself getting lazy because I rationalize that they can get exercise out back...even if I see them just lounging in the sun the whole time. I think Mr. B and Ms. M are lucky because they get so many walks...which dogs love anyways! No need to have anyone feel sorry for your pups!
I love your patio!
We HAVE a backyard, but it doesn't have a beautiful white dog bed in it! BOL!!

Mine love having a backyard now. The pool was all for Mesa (ok ok a little bit for us too)

I'm sure that the pitties love their urban backyard. You have the right idea though. Dogs love to roam, or at least walk. When my pittie is home he sticks close to me, content that he's had a long daily ramble through the neighborhood.
We agree. Having a backyard is a plus, yet our neighborhood, parks and community is our backyard and helps us to be more social

Mr. B deserves his own "backyard!" He does look very content out there! :)
I love the size of your deck and that you can fit actual lounge furniture out there.
Mom & Dad say we were much better behaved before we had a fenced yard! We think you've created quite a nice "urban oasis"!

Like others have said, my backyard is definitely not as welcoming as your patio! I think dogs just like to be outside to sun themselves, sniff the air, and listen to the noises. They don't need a big space as long as they are getting exercise. Levi won't run around in our yard even when we try to play with him. He just plops down in the sun. I'm sure Mr. B. loves his space.
Awww Mr. B look what they did for you! How lovely!

What a nice transformation of your deck! I think what dogs love so much about the outdoors are the smells - and it looks like there are a ton of interesting plants and dirt for your guys to enjoy...
It looks very nice out there! Does Mr. B ever want to pee on the tree? :)
You are so right - a lot of times dogs with back yards never leave their turf and they say it be furry impawtant to get away from your turf fur mental stimulation.
When our dogs have access to a yard they don't even want to be out there unless we're outside too. I don't feel bad for dogs that don't have yards...I feel bad for dogs who spend all their time in yards!
