Pooches: On Walking During Winter and Ruffwear Giveaway Results!

Knowing how important daily exercise and socialization are for our pooches, we just make sure to bundle up when we go on our daily walks. We love getting out there and going by the principle that there is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothes, we've learned to bundle our pooches in sweaters, snoods, and hoodies, bundle ourselves up for our daily walks, and we've found classic dog coats for inclement weather.
We were beyond excited that Ruffwear  has donated coats for adoptables Bessie-Belle and Ferris to navigate the Chicago winter as they wait for their forever homes.
Plus...two lucky winners!
It's times like these that we really wish we like Oprah where we were able to give coats to everyone; it sounds like there are a lot of cold pups out there! But we are just us.
So we used a random number generator to randomly choose 1 winner from blog comments and 1 winner from facebook photos. And the winners are:
Liz and the adorable Bella who wrote
"Bella would adore a Ruffwear coat!! She'd actually be willing to go outside in the winter for more than a quick "business trip"!"

And Lindsay Grounds and the very lucky Bianca:
This sweet Pittie girl was rescued from a Sheriff's-officer-run dog-fighting ring out of Houston, TX in December of 2010. Since that time, she has been waiting patiently at Treat 'Em Right Rescue for her forever home. An amazing family from Battle Creek, MI (burrr!) fell in love with her some time ago, and we have finally been able to make arrangements to get her to them! This amazing girl is going from hot, winterless Texas to snow, snow, and more snow! She's going to need a winter wardrobe and would love to get one of these awesome coats! She makes her journey up through the US next weekend (Feb. 17-19)!! Oh, and with her fabulous new coat, she would be able to run and play outside in the freezing Michigan snow with her new Pittie brother, Gogo! She could do all the fabulous things she's always dreamed of!

Congrats to the winners! Winners, please make sure to contact us by emailing us using the envelope icon on the sidebar of our blog. And we hope all the pooches can stay warm this winter and enjoy some time outdoors.

Oh my goodness, I am so, so excited and happy! Thank you so much!!!

Bella's backstory: Bella is 8 years old, and I've had her for 7 years. She was found as a stray in Harrisburg, PA, which has a major dog fighting problems, and most of our local shelters are 75% comprised of pit bulls. I adopted her from the Harrisburg Humane Society in January 2005.

She was skinny, completely unused to being a house (she didn't even know how to use stairs), and obviously not housebroken. She has gone from a skinny pup to a slightly reubenesque (she loves french fries) elderbelle who adores burying her beak under blankets, going for car rides, and watching me cook in the kitchen.

Some mornings, she was my only reason that I got out of bed, particularly during a nasty divorce.

Her presence in my life has gotten me involved animal rescue transports and has completely changed who I am as a person.

It's a myth that all Canadians like the cold. Maebe and I aspire to be snowbirds, wintering in the Southern US, riding around in golf carts :) Until then we make do with a giant arctic parka for me and a sweater and coat for her - it's not nearly as nice looking as the Ruffwear ones though!

Congratulations. It's nice of you and Ruff Wear to make these doggies warm.
