Miss M is embarrassed when her Dad fixes her outfit
During a recent walk, a police officer stopped our group to ask if there was an event and why all the pups were walking together in costume.
We then realized, they were referring to their coats!
Sure, if you don't have a short-haired dog you may not realize how vital they are for are for keeping our pups warm in the winter. I guess among our group, they have become the norm.
I love learning about what works for everyone, getting all types of layering tips, and hearing in-person reviews, about what keeps the pups warm. Plus they do get a lot of positive stares from the people in the neighborhoods. In your area, are pooches in coats the norm, or is it still rare to see a dressed up pup?
Also:
More pups in cold-weather outfits (plus snow!)
Naked! (in comparison)
Parade.

Around here, Ray is the only "big" dog I've ever seen wearing clothes. Usually that is more for the "Jack Frost"-sized dogs.
I dressed Ray more last winter but he is much more opposed to clothing this year, though he is developing a liking for snuggling in blankets.
We hardly see it, except on small pups. I will put a sweater on Monty because he is such a light weight without any spare flesh.

In Berlin it's a mix of people calling us 'abusive' because we put clothes on the dogs & people that will actually follow our lead. I've seen a lot more dog coats in the past few months but the tendency is still 'how can you do that to your dog? it's abusive. they are dogs, not children'.
I am seeing more and more people in KC dressing up their dogs, but we are definitely not as stylish as the Chicago Sociabulls crew...yet. ;)

I never thought I'd have a dog who wore a coat until I learned about pitties and how chilly they get! Fozzie loved having his flannel-lined jacket when we were in Ithaca, and I loved it because it made him look like a horse.
I don't see too many dogs in my immediate area with coats or sweaters on. When I go to big adoption events though I definitely see some. It's been so warm here lately the dogs haven't really needed them much this year!
My dog has a winter coat and an arctic winter coat, so no additional clothing required.
there aren't too many dogs that wear coats in NM, though right now with the cold spell I am seeing more of them. Ours do, much to Laci's dismay. Her feeling is why wear a coat when I am suppose to be an indoor only dog.
I am used to seeing smaller dogs in coats and sweaters in this area. We have had a colder winter this year so I have seen a few bigger dogs with short hair wearing coats.
Love it!!! You should see the kind of looks Zoe has been getting on our short walks outside. The combination of a cone of shame + snood + jacket = lots of attention. I'll post a pic on our FB page now. :)
People usually stop and comment on Athena's gear. They also usually give a little giggle because I guess it's rare to see a dog wearing a coat. But, I feel like I notice dogs wearing coats and sweaters all of the time around here (it's really necessary in Portland).
Athena is always wearing some sort of coat of sweater when we leave the house because 1. I don't want her to be cold and 2. I think dogs in coats/sweaters are the CUTEST!
We don't see many pups in coats in our area. In the winter, it almost seems like all the dogs disappear - so maybe it would be better if people started putting coats on them and taking them for walks!
I hardly ever see pups wearing coats here in Wichita, I'm not sure if I'm just in the wrong spot or am always around dogs that have thick coats!
We NEVER see other dogs in coats here.
We hope you asked that police man why he had a costume on

Not much cause for coats down here most of the time - but I wish there was ... they all look so festive!
Tess & Ed (well, more Tess) are some of the few that dress up in the area. But everyone always love seeing them in their swag...plus, coats are a total necessity in Erie this time of year!
Maggie loves most of her clothes and doesn't seem to mind wearing them ever. We've found that their homemade fleece snoods keep them pretty warm, which is awesome! And her Zach and Zoey hoodie is obviously adorable. :-)
