Pooches: Miss M the Model

We've shown before how Miss M is like a 'circus dog' who knows a lot of tricks, but one thing she has learned to do naturally: pose for photos. The above photo was taken last week at the Farmer's Market; what it doesn't show is the people gathering around, watching in awe, exclaiming "She really is posing for you!".
Just like any America's Next Top model contestants, Miss M knows how to 'look fierce' and vary up her look:
She takes every opportunity to make sure the camera is focused on her capturing her best angle:
But like any Supermodel diva, she can also be quite demanding:
On the other hand, whenever we pull out the camera Mr. B automatically looks away.
Has anyone tried conditioning your pooch to automatically look towards the camera? Or do you just have naturally posing pooches?

P.S. Remember this post with Miss M's Zoolander 'Blue Steele' look?

We could look at pictures of her all day! Pauley also poses for the camera, & if you go to the closet where his "props" are kept, he gets SUPER excited. Annie & Chloe have always seemed to dislike having their picture taken & usually pull a Mr. B.

I think it is a like to dislike thing. Koda is always happy to pose and Sophie is not. I always do treats behind the camera and have conditioned Blair to put up with having hers done in return to the treat.

I think we managed to condition our dog to love the little bandanas & things we buy for him. He gets excited every time we pull them out. But I think I need to give him more praise & treats when I get out the camera because he is not a big fan.

Sam loves posing for the camera - he gets very serious! Monty on the other hand, would prefer not to have it stuck in his face every time he does something!

That last pic of Mr B made me laugh out loud. He's so unassuming :)

I was just saying two nights ago, I swear Devo and Buddy look away every time the camera is even out. Unless I have a treat in hand they'll completely turn away. The second the camera's away they look back with a cute face. Even with the cell phone camera!! Bella is all girl and loves the camera. Our problem with her is she wiggles so much it's hard to get a non-blurry shot

Bruce has worked very hard on his modeling skills, but Alfred has always been a natural. I think he knew that the more adorable pictures we had of him, the more likely he could convince us to be his forever home. Try saying 'no' to that big squishy face!

Each of mine will look right at the camera, especially Sadie. But all 3 at once? No way, Jose!

Miss M works the camera so well! But you should get most of the credit for capturing so many amazing pictures.
I read somewhere once that the camera lens looks like a big unblinking eye to dogs, which can be threatening to some (direct, hard stare=confrontation). My sensitive one, Monkey, automatically sends out every calming signal in the book when I point the camera at him...blinking, turning to the side, yawning, lip licking...none of which make for a great portrait. AND he has the whole black dog thing working against him as well. The camera usually never does black dogs justice.

I do sometimes have to bribe,,I mean coerce..I mean encourage Elka to look at the camera.

I like that first picture of Miss M! She has a great expression there.

What a total babe! I love her poses.

Most of ours have been natural posers, but I've had some who were either threatened by the camera lens looking at them or didn't like the flash and would look away for that reason. We worked out different solutions to both issues!

Miss M seems like a natural born ham, though! :)

I love the lifted paw--absolutely precious! Dogs who love to pose are awesome--way preferable, from a foster person's standpoint, to dogs who always photograph as a blur.

Roadie is one of the naturally posing pooches. He works for treats but to get that "pitty smile" the ball has to be his reward. The advantage of having him like the camera means that we have gotten some wonderful images of our little rock puppy. And the fact that we have a collar addiction of Sirius Republic collars means we been able to get some great shots for them to use to promote their collars. It's a win win for all involved. Also if you want to check out Roadie's modeling portfolio there is an album on his FB page dedicated to just that.

They're both total models. I think it's time to make some dough off of them! :)

Hehehehehe! I look away when Mom points the camera at me. I can be posing beautifully but as soon as that camera looks at me I turn my head. I do it just to mess
with her ;)

Braylon is notorious for turning her head unless I make a funny noise-- but I am running out of noises that will actually interest her enough to keep looking.

Look at her smizing! Tyra would be proud!

Levi is pretty much a statue all the time, so he is a great subject. Neptune, on the other hand, is more of a spaz and much harder to get a good photo of.
