DoggyStyle: 1 Coat 5 Ways (and a Giveaway!)

You might say we're a little obsessed, but we're always thinking about the weather.
Maybe it's living in Chicago.
Maybe it's not having a backyard and needing to take our pups on so many daily walks.
Or maybe it's because our pooches are a little bit wimpy and need to bundle up.
We were beyond excited when RC Pet Products contacted us to see if we wanted to try out some coats and offered to give away two coats to readers!
The pooches tried out the Skyline Puffy vest: a reversible puffy coat coat with one side bright and one side dark. The collar pops up to show the contrasting color. Miss M is wearing red/black and Mr. B has turquoise/peacock. It also comes in pink/raspberry.
The coat comes in sizes according to their length and uses a velcro closure. Mr. B wore a size 24 which seemed to fit him perfectly. It is the perfect length, though he wears it on the last velcro strip. Miss M is wearing size 26 which fits well around her body and the collar can pop up higher. We like that it fits the top rung of velcro so you can't see the strip, but it is a bit long on her. We have just been fine just folding it over.
We had been interested in trying a puffy coat, which is all the trend in the city.
But our favorite part is with the how we can get so many looks from one single coat.  Just check out how the pooches can get five different looks with one single coat (plus one hoodie and one snood)

Look #1: City Casual (Dark Side):
It seems wearing anything dark seems to be the trend around the city. The pups wear the dark side of the puffy coats for casual daily walks. Though Miss M likes to pop up her collar to show the red and give her best Bela Lugosi impersonation.

Look #2: Dreary Days (Bright Side):
To keep us from getting overwhelmed with the dark, dreary winter days, the pooches can flip the coats over to brighten things up. That's Miss M's version of a smile.

Look #3: Downtown Chic (Dark Side, plus Snood) :
We've been noticing how a lot of girls downtown can wear dark puffy coats and just dress them up with a scarf. With the dark coat and Burberry-esque scarves the pooches blend right in strolling down Michigan Avenue.

Look #4: City Pups (Dark Side, plus Hoodie)
The go-to gear for so many of the city kids is wearing a hoodie with a big puffy-coat. Not to be outdone, the pups layer their hoodies under the dark side of their puffy coats.

Look #5: Snow Pups (Bright Side, plus Hoodie, plus Snoods)
The pups go all out in color for snowy days where they don't want to get caught in a drift. Plus adding their snoods and hoodies under their coats keeps them extra warm. And of course their Pawz disposable boots to keep their paws safe from sidewalk salt.

We love how we can get so many looks from one coat.
And we also love that RC Pet Products has offered to give away Skyline Puffy Vests to two lucky readers!
There are two ways to enter and each person can enter 2 times.
What new things would you do with your pooch if you won a Skyline Puffy Vest coat?

Parker would love a coat for when he travels to Chicago or when we have unpredictable weather here in Memphis. Believe it or not he only owns a few t-shirts so the expansion of a coat in his wardrobe would b greatly welcomed for those chilly days. .

Amy Jo said...

Lainey would love a new coat for these horrible Michigan winters. She is not taking many walks right now as she just had ACL surgery on both of her hind legs last week, but it sure would keep her warm on those potty breaks.

Unknown said...

Penelope would love to win a new jacket to donate to her favorite local rescue A Rotta Love Plus! It gets cold in Minnesota!

Unknown said...

This post is extremely timely, as Maine is getting ready for 2+ feet of snow to be dropped on us tomorrow! Nola would love the extra warmth of a new puffy vest so she can play in the new snow we're going to get! Her belly gets very cold, as it's almost bare, so we always bundle her up! She currently wears an RC jacket, that has fleece lining, but a puffy vest would be even better!

Lola would love a new coat to keep her lanky body warm in the tough Albertan winters (Canada is cold man!). Her mom would ALSO love a new coat for Lola since, as a Great Dane, she grows out of everything so quickly that it gets expensive to keep her warm! :)

Kellynne said...

Fry would love a new coat! He has a hoodie, like Mr. B and Ms. M, but if he could layer on the colder days, we could go for longer walks before he gets cold.

What a perfect giveaway! My Boston Terrier, Franklin would love a coat for the cold Nova Scotia winter! Maybe then we could make it outside to play for more than 20 seconds! :)

Lar said...

Daisy would adore one of these coats to help with her walks and runs in the park. She's a sensitive girl, much like Mr. B and Miss M, and the super cold weather in PA has put a damper on her romping time. And of course, she would be the most stylish dog wherever she went. :)

Kinsley said...

Izzy would love to have a coat to wear over her T shirts on her daily walks! She is super jealous of Ms. M, and wants to be just like her:) So a new coat would be a step in the right direction!

Unknown said...

I live in SC, so I have a super wimpy Pitty when it comes to anything below 45. I'm sure my Piglet would love to look like Ms. M!

Jenna said...

Zoe would love a coat for when she travels to Chicago. Also, there's a great loop in the St. Louis suburb that we're moving to, but it's on a hill so it can be extra chilly in the winter.

Heather said...

Big Ben would love love love a coat that actually fits his pittie body. In the colder months, they have to stay cooped up inside while we are at work sometimes for 12+ hours. once it gets a bit warmer they will get to stay outside in their insulated shed and fenced in yard which they live. I just want to make sure the are warm enough out there! Bens coat right now is awkward and no matter how much we tighten it, he manages to get a paw out and I dont want him to be uncomfortable all day :)

AmyGasparotto said...

Lucy, the Boston Terrier, would love to keep warm in this coat. This is our first winter in Chicago and our outdoor time usually is cut short by her wanting to go back inside. We would definitely make trips to the dog beach with the extra warmth of the puffy vest!

Scooby would love a new coat. He is a 13 lb Rattie.

I would love to bundle my big chow/rottie mix Irving in this coat and take him with me on a snow shoe adventure in the woods!

Unknown said...

Helga may be a 98 pound American Bulldog, but she still loves to stay warm on our daily walks and could really make a statement in a peacock colored Puffy coat!

Chelsea said...

I would love to bundle up my little pittie Meg in a puffy coat ad these Minnesota winters are rough on her. She does not have enough fur for this weather!

Unknown said...

Our American Bulldog/Pittie mix Brutus would LOVE a new coat to add to his ever increasing winter gear selection. We live in Michigan, and multiple jackets and fleece shirts are essential (he thinks)since he doesn't have any undercoat, nor fur between his toes! At 95 lbs, finding them to fit is always a challenge.

Unknown said...

Raven our Pittie that looks like Mr. B would LOVE a coat, we just can not seem to find one that fits her right. We could take her to the dog park to show off her new look!

lperry12 said...

I posted on Facebook too! My pittie doesn't live "in the city" but we live on a mini farm in Ohio. We have snow on the ground and she would love to layer her fleece with a puffy coat just like your pups!

Hannah said...

Widget our boxer-mix is quite a princess when it comes to bad weather - she hates the cold, hates the rain, doesn't like it when it's too hot, etc. Widget would love a puffy coat to keep her warm in the barn when we vist her big (horse) brother - and she would look extra stylish walking around in a puffy coat now that she's joined not 1, but 2 pack walking groups!

Unknown said...

Diva loves wearing clothes, after she had both of her knees done she has become a little wimpy when it comes to the weather, it would allow us to take that trip we've been dreaming of to the mountains, and she would stay toasty warm!

Erin! said...

Compared to Chicago, Baltimore looks like the tropics but our Silly Lilly is a bit of a wimp like Ms M and Mr. B. She would love a new coat to keep her warm!

jessica statz said...

Pepper would love to win a new jacket as well! She loves prancing all over Chicago!

Unknown said...

Our not-so-furry pittbull mix Rae would be so happy with a warm coat to keep her warm during our freezing Montreal winters. She does not like taking walks in the cold, but maybe she might be a little more bold and adventurous if she was toasty warm in a new coat.

Sarah Brantner said...

My two dogs would love a coat to take turns to go outside. We live in northern Minnesota and some of the cold days this year have been -30. Granted they don't stay outside long they still get very cold. The velcro on the coat they used to use ripped and the coat fell off in the middle of the yard and is now buried by snow. They would love nothing more than to be fashionistas like Mr. B and Miss M!!! We are big fans and can only hope to win!! Love always
Your biggest fans Mr. G, Miss T, and Sarah

The Black Dog Lodge said...

Oh Miss Ella would love to warm yet stylish coat to wear!

Kelli said...

Diggory would love a stylish puffy coat like Mr. B's! We'd parade it around center city Philadelphia with the other fashionable pooches. :)

jessieaucoin said...

Thanks for the giveaway! I wouldn't say that there is something NEW we would do with Carra if we were to win a puffy coat. It's more that we would be better at taking her on a long walk and not just a quick "once around the block."

Regina Hart said...

Thank you to RC Pet Products and Two Pitties for the opportunity to win a snazzy coat. Even though he won't admit it, Otto is an elderbully at age 11. He still loves to go for long walks, and a warm new jacket would be a very welcome replacement for his somewhat tatty fleece coat.

Maggie said...

Maggie would love a puffy coat. She's a Chicago gal too and winter is her favorite season. She likes to strut her stuff and run and eat a bunch of snow. She'd probably show off her cute self in the neighborhood and then go to the local pet store to beg for treats - as usual.

DeeDee said...

Since Dazzle can't type, I'm helping out... having a new coat would mean she could play outside with us when we go to Tahoe for a snowy play day. Now, she may *seem* like she's not excited about the new duds, but I know in time, she'd "warm up" to the idea. Hooray for dogs in clothes! :) Thanks, TPitC!

Derby would love to wear a puffy coat on her daily walks and her weekly Sociabulls walks. It would also help keep her white coat a little cleaner when she decides to roll in the snow and mud.

Crystal K. said...

So awesome! Charlie Machete would much prefer a Skyline Puffy Vest instead of the camo hunting vest I've been making him wear on cold days..

I lurve these coats! Obviously it is pretty chilly in KC in the winter, so we love having coat options and we love RC Pets! We recently purchased RC Pets raincoats and are officially obsessed!

Zoe would love another coat to keep her warm as we work on her physical therapy outside! Each week, her walks are getting longer (and you know how she's kind of a fashionista and likes to keep her look fresh). :)

jaime.mertz said...

My pittie "Ginkgo" would love a puffy coat. Here in NE Pennsylvania, it has been bitterly cold, and poor Ginkgo just stands and shakes outside. She is also entered in a few agility trials in February and March, so the coat would be the perfect thing to keep her cozy in her crate in between runs.

Christine said...

Willie would look so cute in a vest, although he doesn't need one since he doesn't get cold. Nabi does not do clothing! We would prob save it for a future foster with shorter fur or donate it to a pup in need.

sheena said...

Chula and Leeloo -- Leeloo especially, would love to have a warm awesome jacket to sport out in the cold. We like to take the dogs to the Montrose Dog Beach as often as we can, and during the winter it is definitely brutal. With these coats, we would be able to spend a good amount of time there without worrying about them freezing their bully butts off.

Steph said...

Tobi would love to win a coat because he's never owned one. He thinks that it sure would make going outside on these cold Wisconsin winter days, better. He's just a little guy (Cockapoo) who loves going to walks, but can't make it too far in the winter because he gets so cold. A new coat would mean longer walks, and a happier pup!

Corbin said...

Corbee would love nice new coat for these chilly winter days! We're expecting over a foot of snow tomorrow!
-Corbin

We've seen lots of the RC products at local pet shops and we ADORE them!!!

If we won an RC coat for Athena it would definitely be the warmest coat that she would own, so we might be brave enough to bring her up to the mountain to play in the snow!

Anonymous said...

Would love to win! Our current hand-me-down coat is in a shabby state. My stafford-dane mix, Shayla loves to walk. With a new coat we could walk longer - better exercise for the both of us. And make plans to travel to visit friends up north more often.

Anonymous said...

Oh Chocko would love a puffer!!! He despises the cold and it's such a struggle to get him to walk outside. We've recently noticed it would be nice to have a velcro coat, so this would be a perfect addition!

Unknown said...

I have a neekid pit bull that needs a new coat! No, seriously. He was the runt of the litter and born without hair. The vet advised he be put down because he'd never be healthy but thankfully someone contacted me and the rest is history. He's perfectly healthy by the way. :)

Unknown said...

Keep our pittie even warmer on walks!! Even though we live in GA Summer shivers on cold, cloudy days.

Tina said...

We have a monthly pit bull parade in Portland, OR and we would show off our new coats at the next walk! Gimli loves to wear coats :)

Oh my word. We would love love a coat for my Lily. Especially if we would look like you

My Booboo can wear it sledding! He is soo picky with everything and our puppy Aaliyah has no problem playing in the snow and he doesn't like getting all wet and cold so this would protect my baby and give him the confidence to have the "Just do it!" attitude!

Ashley June said...

My yellow lab loves to run all over the place on our wilderness walks. Unfortunately, the landscape is usually the same color as her, so she's difficult to spot and keep track of. The bright colors would be so helpful in the summer months and keep her warm in the winter!

Unknown said...

Lovely coats and modeling :)
Love Milo :)

Laura said...

Absolutely LOVE the coat! I'm out in the Chicago 'burbs so Clarke could definitely use one...!

3D Brewer said...

Other than the obvious benefits of insulation, Miss Coco is an advocate for her breed and will not only fight the stigma associated with being a Staffie mix but will also fight the limiting, and oftentimes hurtful, affects of BDS. Black Dog Syndrome. We've found that hoodies and jackets (particularly pastels) tend to draw people closer who otherwise would venture to the other side of the road upon meeting on the street.

Back to that warm and fuzzy thing...she's lacking a significant amount of fur on her underside and shivers like a leaf in the "balmy" (as opposed to Chicago) San Francisco winters.

Hannah@Eriesistibull said...

Such hip pooches! Erie weather isn't too far off from Chicago weather - just from a different lake! Tess & Ed like anything that cuts down on the harsh winds...plus they like looking cool!

RED said...

Zeus would LOVE a coat so he can continue his new trend to copy Mr B! (although he would prefer said coat in the black/red option which would match his current plaid collar perfect!). He just started wearing the pawz rubber booties (purple, just like Mr B!) for our long, cold, salt-covered city walks in Philadelphia! Just as the boots have increased our walk time, I'm certain the jacket would be much appreciated and we can spend more time exploring our city this winter! (I love the cold walks, Zeus does not!)

Kelly_g said...

I just recently found your blog and I just LOVE it! The first day I stumbled across it I think I stayed on for 3 hours reading the archives! I appreciate all of your winter weather posts so much because my pittie Jay and I live in Pittsburgh, PA and although we have a yard we really enjoy walks - even in the cold. A mile-long walks takes us about 30 minutes to complete because Jay loves to sniff and pee on everything! Jay would really enjoy a new coat because 1. his is a couple of years old and starting to show signs of wear and tear and 2. the better covered he is the longer our walks can be and for a young guy (he is only 3) it would be great for him to be able to expend some of his energy in ways other than zooming around the yard :-)! Thanks!

My dog is an American Bulldog mix, and her short hair doesn't cut it during the cold Ohio winters. She would wear this almost daily from now until April! We would definitely layer a hoody with one of these puffy jackets. We try to walk at a city park once a week, but when it's so cold, it's hard to even get her in the car to get there. This would help!

Unknown said...

We would definately try snow shoeing with Cooper. He has a rain coat now, but will definately need something warmer when we get around to it.

AJ said...

Roadie would love a coat that was recommended by the fashionable Miss M and Mr B. He also wants to know the secrets behind getting used to wearing booties!

SherBear said...

Nala has her red coat and red hoodie, I'd love to get her the pink/raspberry one to give her wardrobe a pop of color :-)

Mandy said...

This would be perfect for our greyhound pit mix! He LOVES to be outside, even when he is shaking so hard he can barely stand still. I have been meaning to get him a coat, so I'm crossing my fingers :)

Unknown said...

Ellie would love a coat just like Ms M and Mr B!!! I ordered her sweatshirts just like theirs and she wears it all of the time! I love that you do such a great job of pointing out good products. We have taken advantage of the hoodies, seatbelts and soon the footies! Thanks for all you do!

jackiedeeh said...

Brandy would love to take longer walks because it is cold here in Minneapolis!

Liz said...

Bogart would love the turquoise coat! He's such a muttrosexual, so we could prance around downtown Mpls looking very stylish. :)

Ally Barker said...

Hero and Gabby are very sensitive to the cold. If they have their new coats, they would be able to enjoy family outings to the snow or camping trips.

Anonymous said...

Petey would love a coat like the famous Mr. B and Miss M! His is not proud of the doofy picture posted on your Facebook page of him in his person's old sweater and his too short coat. He loves to be warm and toasty(especially under the covers)just as much as he loves attention :)

Katie said...

Eva already loves RC Pet Products coats and would love to look even more stylish on our neighborhood walks with this puffy vest. We also live near the ocean so this would be perfect for a winter trip to the beach!

Nicole said...

Ringo would wear his new coat for playing in the snow in Chicago & for winter hikes up in Michigan.

Mel said...

My pittie/Boston mix Petal and my Boston Posey are both so hard to fit! They are not big, but very deep chested (like most pittie dogs). I would love these to try and fit the girls! Poor Petal is yeasty these days and her fur is so thin, she needs to layer! Where are your fleece under layers (hoodies?) from? I have such a hard time finding something that covers the belly and a bit of the legs, but our thin coat dogs really need it!

GardenLady said...

Casper would love a coat! Our senior lab enjoys waiting at the bus stop to greet our son after preschool, but he gets cold and shivers even with his new sweater on.

We live in Erie, PA where it gets very cold and snowy. My pup, Roxy, loves her daily walks and would love a coat to keep her warm!

If Barley won a skyline puffy vest, we would venture closer to the lake shore path as he's not prepared for the Chicago breeze without one.

Keri @ Trinitys Love said...

Trinity would romp around in the snow! We're about to have 2 ft of snow. Eek!

I think my Buddha is getting to the age when he might appreciate wearing a coat during the Minnesota winters.

Heather said...

Orly has turned into a bit of a cold wuss and would love one of these stylish coats to wear during his walks through the nearby park.

Unknown said...

I have four rescue pitbulls and they all refuse to go outside without their hoodies, coats, scarfs, and boots on. So winning a coat would be awesome since buying clothes for four pups gets expensive

Unknown said...

We have an American Bulldog who is always cold. He has thyroid issues and irritable bowel syndrome which contributes to being cold often. We also have tons of snow! Shane could really use a puffy coat :)

SimpleDad said...

There is a lazy Brown creature of Pittbull and Boxer descent that lives outside of Philadelphia. His name is Simple and he is terrified of weather like rain, snow and temperatures below 40 degrees. Help with getting him out the door on snow days would certainly be appreciated.

Isabel said...

My dog has to contend with rain and cold on walks during our long rainy season so this water repellent vest would work great.

Debra@Peaceabull said...

Everyone should have their own puffy coat or two. All the fashionable pooches are sporting one. :-)

Jacquelin Cangro said...

Those coats look great. Reggie would love one. He has had a hard time finding one that fits. Too long. Too short. Too tight. This one looks just right. :)

We see a lot of pooches wearing puffy coats here in Brooklyn.

Andrea Joy said...

Beau would love to show off a new coat at his next positive pittie pack walk!

liliana876 said...

If I won, I think I'd select a coat for Argus, he is who gets cold quicker :) And if we win, I'd take him walking downtown Raleigh on the weekends!

Rachel said...

What gorgeous coats! With the recent snowfall we just got it would be great to have a coat for our upcoming hike in a nearby park. The pups love to get out to new places and a coat would definitely make the experience for all better :-)

Unknown said...

Achilles would LOVE to win the RCPets Skyline Puffy Vest so he can rock his trademark bandana with it! We haven't been able to find him a great wonter coat and after the BLIZZARD in NY this weekend he needs one!

Susan Christy said...

Lucy doesn't have much hair, so she doesn't get to walk in the winter. Even with a sweater, she is shaking before we get down the driveway. Getting her to go outside to potty is a chore when it is cold.
