SociaBulls: On Dedication

The other day, a colleague was telling me how much easier it would be to have a cat.
Or at least a pet that doesn't need to be walked, especially in last weekend's weather like this.
Which made me wonder about how our SociaBulls group had grown so big and is filled with so many people who are willing to walk in this type of weather.
And get up early on a weekend to do it.
And even do the research to seek out warm gear for their pups to make sure they're comfortable.
So many of our members have been spending this coldest-and-snowiest winter doing just this.
How would you explain it?

The reasons why individual dogs walk. (Check the links at the bottom to read all of the stories).

We wimped out and cancelled our Group Walk this weekend - not so much b/c of rain or cold, but because of how windy it was! Guess we're just not as tough as you Chiberians ;)

Well, if you don't have a yard, and you don't want your dog to do his or her business in the living room, you really have to go for a walk. And I've found that once I've got all the gear on for a short walk, we might as well go for a long walk. Fortunately, Nimbus is a snow dog. As me again how we're doing in August.

I think you are either, a dog or a cat person. Total dedication, yet fun

I love the dog with the boots and coat sitting his bare butt on the snowy ground!

One of my favorite things about having dogs is taking them out. I guess some people see it as like, "Crap, I've got to get the dog out again" but I always look forward to it!

I'm in agreement with Heatherkay. We don't have a choice really. No yard to speak of so we're going out no matter the weather! As a new dog owner (nearly 4 months in now) I can say that it is hard and takes dedication but it's so rewarding! Having a cat WOULD be a lot easier but easier isn't necessarily better. I love cats too, but I've already got Barry and he's a handful as it is.

Our dogs are totally worth the extra effort in whatever weather. It's also healthy for human and dog.

For the love of dog, that's how we do it! (said the woman who woken up from a sound sleep twice tonight to take her dogs outside.)
